    Beef Flavor

I would say that at the very least....you are mostly right. I always save the Beef drippings from every steak and roast I cook throughout the year. I let them cool down overnight in the Fridge, and then skim off the fat the next day. Then I add the (mostly) fat-free drippings to a container in...

    Slow Cooker - Timer

My Crock Pot is much older and doesn't have a timer on it. I'm not sure why you would want one....I wouldn't want it to shut off, and me be away at the time, and food would sit there for a few hours risking being in the dangerous temperature range. I've used mine, planning for it to be done...

What to do with a whiny husband??

Toss him some cheese, to go with his whine. In all seriousness; don't do anything for him. If you can, eat a bigger meal at lunchtime, then for dinner just have a couple of Apples, or Oranges, or Bananas, with some Cottage Cheese, and maybe some Carrot sticks. When he gets hungry enough he'll...

    What to have with _______?

Since it sounds like you aren't putting any carrots, or potatoes in the stew, I assume you probably want something different. So for a side dish, I'd go with a simple salad of chopped Romaine lettuce, Roma Tomato slices, Cucumber slices, and some Black Olives.....drizzle some Extra Virgin Olive...

    Who's Trying to Lose Weight?

Don't be mean to yourself, I think you're setting yourself up to fail. It's OK to eat, just find something that works for you....have a couple of Dill pickle spears, they're only a few calories, or have some Yogurt, Dannan "Light & Fit" is low calorie, have some Granola, homemade is best. I use...

Need advice on buying of spices

Penzeys Spices has 4 stores in New York; but I'd bet New York is big enough for a few more stores. You may want to see what would be involved in one of their stores....or at least go to one near you and it should give you some idea of what you would be getting yourself into. Penzeys Spices...

Help wanted for making hash brown potatoes golden

I don't think so. All you need to do with the frozen Hash Browns is put them on the grill (griddle/pan) and cook them. The dehydrated ones come in a cardboard box, and you have to fill the box with water to re-hydrate them before you cook them. I don't see any reason to freeze dehydrated...

Help wanted for making hash brown potatoes golden

According to the website Canolainfo.org ....Canola Oil and the "Canola Plant" were invented (grown) in Canada. The Rapeseed plant you are referring to, and the "Canola Plant" are not the same. The Rapeseed plant was bred to have a lower amount of acid that was considered safe for humans to...

Help wanted for making hash brown potatoes golden

People have NOT been using Canola Oil for centuries.....Canola Oil did not exist until 1968. I should have been more specific....I don't buy into the "Scary Stories" people post on the Internet about Canola Oil, or any other product. What I was referring to is that Canola Oil was originally...

Help wanted for making hash brown potatoes golden

For too many years I was a cook for Denny's, Azar's, Bennigans, Days Inn, and a few other "greasy spoon" type restaurants. In every restaurant that I worked in, we cooked the meat and Hash Browns on a 350° griddle. At "Denny's" we use the dehydrated Hash Browns; we would put a handful of them...
