The Metric System in the USA

The US should absolutely step into line with the rest of the word and go metric. I find it astonishing that a country which prides itself on being ahead of the rest should lag so far behind in this one area - like half a century or more! There's a very strong case for world-wide standardisation...

Depending on the season, you could try any of the following, and many more not mentioned: Apricots Peaches Nectarines Bananas Rockmelon (cantaloupe) Honeydew melon Watermelon Kiwifruit Plums Pears - try Nashi pears for a change in flavour Grapes - white, red, black pawpaw (papaya) - strong...

    Cacao

I've done a little research, nothing too heavy. In brief, it's like any other herb. It has its upside and its downside. It really depends on how you look at it. It has medicinal purposes, most of which have been corroborated by research; it isn't tolerated by some individuals; and it definitely...

    HP/Brown sauce

I lOVE HP sauce! For those who don't know it, think of it a bit like the American Ketchup, except it's brown, and tastes better! I discovered this recipe, haven't tried it. I'd be using treacle instead of molasses, however. In Australia, molasses is a stock-food! Homemade H.P. Sauce...

You are not the boss of me - Grammar help

'You are not the boss of me' is perfectly grammatically correct, if a little antiquated in usage. You can say 'my boss' with equal correctness. Here are some more examples of the possessive: my friend's mother = the mother of my friend your friend = the friend of you our friend - the friend...

Thyme from my garden in January

In my subtropical garden, I have fresh herbs all year round, and I do tend to take it for granted. I think I can understand the thrill you experienced, when you normally only have fresh herbs for a few months of the year. How nice for you! There is nothing better than fresh herbs.

    Sugar Free Fudge

Now, why didn't you post this before Christmas??? It's definitely a keeper for me, however, so I forgive you. Thanks for posting. I'm going to add some Rum Essence to it because it's likely to be a good replacement for the high-sugar Rum Balls I usually make for my son.
