I've been making candy apples with my best friend and they taste amazing and look pretty good but how can you get rid of the bubbles (I assume air bubbles)? Also, how can I make the coating thinner? The recipe I've been using:
4 cups sugar
1 cup lt corn syrup
1.5 cups water
Food color
Mix well...
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe cooking too long. I remove it from the heat as soon as it hits the right temp but maybe it's taking too long and perhaps I should turn up the heat to speed the process.
Thanks very much great idea. I will try that tomorrow. I, as I'm sure we all are especially this month, have been very Very busy. Just got a new to me stove and microwave gifted to me. Lots of work ahead to mount the microwave above the stove as our kitchen is not set up for that = moving...
I can make some tastey Pralines but how do you keep them liquid until you can spoon them out onto a pan? I get about 2 out of 12 into the pan then they begin to QUICKLY thicken and set up. They look and taste exactly as my grandmother's used to. When I used to help her with them I remember that...
Surgery, of course, went well if I haven't posted anything since. Thank you all for the uplifting & encouraging words of wisdom. I read this just before I was called back for my surgery & didn't have a chance to respond right away. Feeling much better now.

This is what I was thinking. Presentation makes a difference in first impressions of food.
No thanks. I probably have the same recipe somewhere. Your right though. Where I got the inspiration was from a similar recipe for the same sort of thing. This is really just a lemon pound cake with a...
I can make a pretty decent lemonade cake, but I'm looking for ideas to kick it up a little to make it over the top. Definitely going to add more zest, then what? Ideas welcome.
Well I don't have that kind of talent but. I do have a sweet tooth with Gall bladder problems. So to quench that & keep the fat down I sliced some marshmallows (4 slices each) and topped graham crackers with the slices then broiled until browned and puffy. Spread a thin layer of Tj's cookie...
Watermelon dehydrates deliciously. It gets nice and crisp and breaks like a wafer yet melts in your mouth almost like cotton candy. It's also amazingly sweet when dehydrated. I would not dare add sugar of any kind. If you like candy & you dehydrate some watermelon, you'll wish you had dehydrated...
