    Pecan Ring

I broke out the dutch oven today to try out a new recipe. It's a pecan ring that you use frozen bread dough to make. It turned out very well, but I did discover that I'm not particularly adept at making 18" long dough ropes. But it turned out alright, and I figure I will get better with more...

    Clafouti Flop

The raspberry clafouti turned out great! The extra time was the key, but PrincessFiona's suggestion of covering it with foil for 20 minutes was spot on. Here's a picture of the finished product.

    Clafouti Flop

Yeah, the picture isn't that good. There was what I felt to be quite a bit of liquid. That's what made me think of runny. I like your idea of covering with foil. I'll try that and see what happens. Thank you! :-)

    Clafouti Flop

It may look like clafouti, but it really shouldn't be that runny, should it? I thought it's be quite a bit firmer. We'll see what happens with the raspberry version.

    Clafouti Flop

I tried baking my first cherry clafouti today, and it didn't turn out quite the way I would have liked. I guess I thought that a clafouti was more of a cake, but I should have realized that with 6 eggs in it, it would be a bit more custard like. It tasted just fine. I just think it didn't bake...

    Dutch Oven Pizza

Hmmmm.....might work. Why don't you give it a try? I don't need to since I figured out how to get the pizza out of the D.O. :-))

    Dutch Oven Pizza

You'd be losing the "oven" concept which is needed for having heat all around the pizza. It would just be like tying to cook a pizza on a flat top grill. It really wasn't that difficult to get it out. Remember that the D.O.'s were only 12", so the pizzas weren't that big. The pizzas were...

    Dutch Oven Pizza

I was a little worried about that too. I ended up using an extra wide silicon spatula and the pizzas lifted right out. :-)

    Dutch Oven Pizza

Decided to cook up a couple of dutch oven pizzas for dinner tonight. I was pleased with the results, although I over estimated the number of coals to be used under the dutch oven. I was thinking that I needed an even layer of coals to get the pizza dough reasonably crispy. What I ended up...

    Pumpkin Dump Cake

Actually, the evaporated milk provides the majority of the required moisture, but the quantity of the butter helps too.

    Pumpkin Dump Cake

I did bake it outside with coals Aunt Bea. It is my favorite way to cook. I do have a "few" recipes for rolls, biscuits, cornbread, and other that I'll be happy to post.

    Pumpkin Dump Cake

I also did another new recipe today because we're going to a neighbors for dinner and we wanted to bring something a little extra. This recipe is for a Pumpkin Dump Cake. It turned out very well also. My wife thinks I should plan on doing it for Thanksgiving. If I end up doing all of the...
