Which country has the best food, in your opinion?

Hmmm... Definitely hard to chose one absolute favourite. I love the ingenious use of ingredients in Greek and Turkish dishes, and any food that's well prepared really. That said, I love the variety we have in South Africa. Not saying it's better than anywhere else, just that if I had to be...

    What is your "Signature Dish?"

Probably my chocolate cake - I use cocoa for the batter and real chocolate for the topping (half dark, half milk). But by now I can't stand the sight of it! Hahaha!

    Rice Crispy Treat Variations?

Oh, and I have a neat trick for getting them out of the pan: Before i pressed the mix into the pan, I lightly sprayed it then added a big enough piece of cling wrap/film so that it hangs over the edges. Press in the goo as normal. When you want them out, lift the edges of the cling film and out...

    Rice Crispy Treat Variations?

The toppings. I made my first batch with coco pops and chocolate on top. Everyone thought they were amazing! So now I'm just wondering what to do with the strawberry ones... maybe dark chocolate?? :chef:

    Rice Crispy Treat Variations?

Ok, so this Christmas the budget is tight. What I've decided to do is give every couple two tins: one with my homemade butter cookies, and one with some sort of sugary treat. I decided on Rice Crispy treats, because they are failry easy and inexpensive to make. Now, I don't just want to make...

    What's cooking Wednesday September 23, 2009?

I am making a weird combination, but one that is just so yummy... Chicken simmered in an orange wine sauce, thickened with Maizena or flour. Served with a side of Mac&cheese believe it or not! The creamy pasta with (or without) cheese really compliments the citrus-e chicken. Try it!

    The ultimate grilled cheese?

I have to have three cheeses on my toasted cheese... Usually, because it's the basic cheeses in my house, some strong cheddar, a sweet Gouda and some Mozarella for the lovely stringy texture. I have added and sometimes subsituted with Haloumi as well. If you leave the sarmi in the pan for long...

    Kitchen Disasters

Ow, guys! Ow!! I had two bad ones that I can recall: One, I wanted to make this wonderful sweet potato and asparagus soup recipe that I have for my (then) boyfriend. I think my sweet potatos were old or something, because the whole pot came out paint-grey. Yuck! Two, I was making a caramel...

Hello everyone. Just realised that it might be good manners to introduce myself... I am from South Africa. Obviously, I love to cook. I will probably never, ever be a model because I just can't give up fabulous restaurants and making gorgeous combinations in my own kitchen . I...

    ISO Cream Cheese Dinner Ideas

Today I realised I have a tub of cream cheese in my fridge that got left over from my birthday party. The only thing I can think to do with it is to chuck it into some risotto. Anyone else have some wonderful ideas for cream cheese (dinner wise)? :ermm:
