14 February Saint Valentine-What's your dinner menu?

I'm planning on cooking up some porterhouse steaks and serving them with salad, potatoes (twice-baked if my boyfriend likes them, mashed if he doesn't), and maybe garlic bread. Dessert will probably be dark chocolate fudge.

    Cookbooks, do you use them?

I need a recipe for most things (a personal quirk that my boyfriend finds amusing), but I've only bought a few cookbooks. The rest are the ones I've inherited, gifts from family, and a three-ring binder I use for family recipes and things I've found online that we liked.

    Today's dinner 30th Jan. 2008

I'll probably just do burgers--boyfriend is going out with his buddies and I think my sewing circle gets together tonight.

Just wondering ... what is everyone reading now?

The Oxford History of Christian Worship... Yeah, I'm one of those people who reads history books for fun.

What's on your dinner menu Monday 1/28/08

We have enough leftovers that I've decided we're having that--between Saturday's chili and the pizza I brought home from my aunt's house, there's plenty that needs to be eaten.

I want to share with you

My mom died in 2004 and, as odd as it must sound, some of my best memories of her are of lumpy mashed potatoes and chocolate chip cookies. I was so excited when I figured out her secret to the cookies and now when I make them, sometimes I forget to leave some for others to have! :pig: I wish I...

    Dinner for Thursday, January 24...

I'm home alone for supper tonight, so I'm planning on pasta (either penne or spaghetti depending on what I find) with sauce from a jar. Now I'm going to have to find that meatloaf recipe--maybe I can get my boyfriend to eat it again if I try something different!

So why do you love your car?

My car is nothing special (it's a 1999 Chevy Prizm), but I love it anyway. It's reliable, it hasn't needed major repairs in the nearly five years I've had it, and the gas mileage is great. It's also underpowered enough that I can't get into much trouble with it.

    Wednesday Dinner, Jan. 16

Steaks (broiled because it's too cold to grill), garlic bread, corn, and probably another side dish that I'll figure out later. After a not-so-good meal last night and several nights before that of me not feeling well enough to cook, I really wanted to do something I know I can do well.

What is the worst pizza you have had?

Before this thread, I thought there wasn't such a thing as bad pizza! The worst pizzas I've had were still semi-edible, but I can't decide whether the worst was a particular brand of the frozen stuff or the pizza they served in the dining halls at my university. I think I've just gotten...

    Dinner Friday the 11th

I've never had perogies, but that sounds delicious! I'm doing a sort of build your own taco salad. All I have to do is cook up the ground beef with taco seasoning, heat up refried beans, and put out tortilla chips and some toppings--I love an easy meal.

Dinner of the 4th of January...

Chicken baked in barbecue sauce, mashed potatoes and corn on the side, and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

    Home Economics

For me, home economics was required (for girls and boys) in middle school and optional in high school (I graduated from high school in 2001--even though my experience is relatively recent, I wouldn't be surprised if things have changed since then). The required middle school class included very...

    Dinner. Jan 2, 2008

Tonight seems like a good night for lasagna, so that's what I plan on making. I'll probably cut up the rest of the bread I made yesterday to go with it.

Happy New Year's dinner, last one, 2007

I tried the birthday cake-flavored ice cream at my boyfriend's brother's birthday party a couple of months ago--it's good stuff! The male half has to work tomorrow, so we're staying in and I fried some chicken for supper.
