    excellent advice! What brands should I be looking at? I do like having a serrated knife--I like it for breads and tomatoes. I have a couple of those so I am not replacing them anyhow.

    However, I would disagree that sandblasting is the best way to clean older cookware.>> I probably used the wrong word here. Sanding it? I guess that is different from sandblasting. I just know that the older rusty stuff can be rejuvenated to tip top shape.
