I've decided I would like to convert some of my recipes and like to try to bake by weight. After looking at a few charts and websites it seems like they really vary.
I trust King Arthur but they don't have a print out chart.
I'd appreciate any help and advice
I thought I found a good recipe at allrecipes.com that said it was 'the best' then before I started to mix it I read more of the reviews and people said it tasted awful.
I really want to mix it up tonight a few days ahead of baking them.
Also I could only find Extra large Eggland's best eggs...
I made a big mistake and left my Cuisinart skillet on to pre-heat and left the room and forgot it for about 15 min. The bottom got dark. I was able to use Bar Keeper's friend to get most of it out.
So far it seems to be cooking ok but now I am having some trouble cleaning it. I guess it is some...
Thanks for all of the help. It sounds like it should be in the water instead of above it on another rack like my recipe called for. I will also try the thermometer. I am a stickler (sp) for preciseness. I will try another one sometime. I will have to give most of it away. I love to bake but I am...
I recently used a new recipe to make a low fat cheesecake. I followed it exactly. It said to put a roaster pan in the oven with it 1/3 full with water (I used a casserole dish). Then when it was finished cooking the recipe said to turn the oven off and leave it in the oven for an hour. I did all...
I really need some help in buying a new cookware set. I bought one of Rachel Ray's off QVC and I'm having second thoughts about it. I'm thinking about trying stainless steel instead of a non-stick finish but I have never cooked with it. I'm worried about it sticking when you cook something like...
when I used to make it I used part brown sugar for better taste, added choc. chips and even shaved part of an unsweetened square of choc. You have to increase the sugar to about 6 Tbl.. I also added about 1/4 tsp bak pwdr or probably little less to make it rise. It seems like more trouble but...
Hi--
I love to bake and have started baking cakes to give away to those at church that are sick, need cheering, etc. Anyway I have tried different recipes and it seems like my cakes taste dry. I wanted to use an all butter recipe for a yellow cake but I am wondering if that is the problem...
i guess i didn't really mean "most" people would assume the worst. it is not that i feel bad against my fellow man. it is the position my husband has as a minister and the importance of us being a good example for others. this is hard for others to understand at times but our conscience will...
Well, because of my Christian beliefs I would not like to be seen buying alcohol. My husband is a preacher and we do not believe in drinking of any kind. All Christians do not feel this way but my husband's father was an alcoholic. If a person saw me buying wine or any other alcohol that i...
well, i think i'm going to buy rum extract. i looked in the archives and found a reference to McCormick's website that gave substitutions. I don't have a problem using extracts even though I know they do have alot of alcohol in them.
I would like to make Tiramisu but it has 2 tsp of dark rum in it. I know this is not alot but because of my Christian beliefs we do not keep alcohol in our house at all. I am always disappointed when I come across a new recipe that has alcohol in it and can't make it. Do you have any...
Hi I am catering my daughter's reception but am not a professional so this is all new to me. I am going to make a Black Bean and Mango Salsa. Is there a way to make Mangos ripen better? The one's I have gotten have only ripened on one side of them. I may try and substitute papayas. I don't know...
