Boring salmon cakes needs a kick in flavor!

I've been making salmon cakes for the past three years which has been a great meal option for my weightlifting diet. I love to eat them with loads of Tabasco sauce on the side because I'm such a hothead. But lately I've been wondering if there's any way I could add more flavor to my salmon cakes...

    Salmon, onion and tomato soup

Any idea how to make this? I came across this Flickr photo when I Googled salmon recipes. Looks sooooo good. Is it as simple as it looks - pieces of baked salmon thrown into a onion and tomato soup?

    What is a hard-anodized skillet?

Is this coating safer than Teflon? Do I have to be worry about heating the pan for too long as I would with a Teflon pan to avoid poisoning? I don't know if this is how they're supposed to be, or maybe it's an indication of high quality, but my anodized skillet is pretty heavy. Also, while I...

    What is a hard-anodized skillet?

I just bought one at Bed Bath Beyond since it was the only skillet with in my price range. How does it compare to stainless steel and regular non-stick pans?

Discuss Cooking v2.0 - Details and Feedback

The new look is great, very user friendly, especially the blue forum tabs at the top of the page. Though I like how everything is scaled larger, I feel that the user information in the left column is a bit pointless. It seems to take up more space than necessary. I prefer maximizing my page...

Thanks. I'll try that next time. I also have the Southwestern Style in my fridge.

    Problem with browning potatoes

Diced potatoes by Crystal Farms, and they came refrigerated, not frozen.

    Problem with browning potatoes

Lately, I've been having a problem browning some packaged breakfast potatoes. I use plenty of oil (unless there's something as using too much oil) and I'm cooking on high heat. Maybe it's something to do with my pan?

    Clams

Do clams take longer to open than mussels? I just made a dish last night of clams and mussels and the clams never opened. I might have cooked them for about 5 minutes on high heat.

Ground beef turned brown in the freezer

And I didn't even cook it. Is this normal? I just separated a pound of ground beef in half, cooked one half, and froze the other. Also, how long is frozen beef good for? I think I left mine in for 2-3 weeks.

NY - New York City ... Pizza?

It's still NYC style because without the toppings, you'd have a regular slice of pizza. But I wouldn't call it gourmet either because the prices are still very reasonable (they're only slightly higher than pizzas with traditional toppings). Plus, Two Boots doesn't present themselves as a gourmet...

What type of white wine do you recommend for cooking?

Thanks for your responses. I use it probably every other week or so, usually for linguine and clams or chicken picatta.

What type of white wine do you recommend for cooking?

I rarely drink so my alcohol knowledge is limited. I was using the cheap cooking white wine until I started realizing the aftertaste as well as the amount salt in it. I'm also looking to keep it relatively cheap. Any particular brand you care for? Thanks for your help.

NY - New York City ... Pizza?

Whatever you do, don't go to the fancy Patsy's. It's just a gourmet version pizza, not NYC-style. Just go to any typical place you find down the block, not that there aren't any bad ones. And when you order, make sure you stick with plain. Some places don't do a good job once you add the...

How long are potatoes good for?

I bought a bag of red potatoes about a week and a half ago since I eat it so often. I assumed that it didn't need any refrigeration so I just left them out on the counter. How much longer do they have?

Frozen chicken - how long is it good for?

I immediately froze up some chicken cutlets about three weeks ago. I'm sure it's still OK to eat, but would you rather throw it out?

ISO Spicy tomato sauce for pastas

Not sure if this is generally the same as an arrabbiata sauce that was posted in an earlier thread. I've been to a number of Italian restaurants as well as one Portuguese restaurant that have used a spicy tomatoey sauce for their pasta, usually with clams and mussels. The weird thing is, I...

    Name this dish

I had this amazing dish at a restaurant in North Carolina called Bonefish Grill. I didn't realize it was a franchise restaurant until I Googled it. For some reason, I wasn't able to locate the particular dish on their menu. Not sure if it's their own speciality, but this dish was sort of like...

    How to properly cook sausages

Just wanted to update you on how my experience went. I started out with water in the pan but then I decided to drain it and replace it with oil instead. I cooked the sausage for a good 15-20 minutes before I turned up the heat at the end for a couple of minutes. I was wondering, do you boil the...
