Using ISO and REC when posting

Either way would work, and would be a lot better then just posting the name of a recipe, where everyone has to click it on just to see whether the person is looking for a recipe or posting one.

Using ISO and REC when posting

ISO means "In Search Of" REC means "Recipe"

Using ISO and REC when posting

As kitchenelf mentioned awhile ago, it would be so much better, ie, more convenient/less time consuming for the viewers, if posters used those abbreviations in front of each post, (unless of course it's not recipe-related), so the viewers would know immediately whether the poster is looking for...

    Baking Advice...

Hey, don't feel bad, once I mistakenly used all cornstarch instead of flour and produced an inedible chocolate cake. That was fun.

How do you make fresh whipped cream?

Make sure you're using HEAVY cream or HEAVY whipping cream. Some stores sell light whipping cream - do not use that - it won't work!

REC: Super-Fudgy Triple Chocolate Espresso Brownies!

I just made these brownies a few days ago and they are fantastic! Bittersweet and very fudgy, and of course even fudgier after refrigeration. I used bittersweet chocolate instead of semi-sweet. Super-Fudgy Triple Chocolate Espresso Brownies Ingredients: 5 oz semisweet chocolate...

    Mini Cheesecake Disaster

I always use a food processor - that's the easiest method. If you don't have one, place them in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin. If you make the squares, let me know how they turn out!

    Mini Cheesecake Disaster

Vegas Girl, Did you use a dark nonstick baking sheet by any chance? That would account for the overbrowning on the bottom. Dark pans conduct more heat than shiny ones, so the temperature needs to be decreased by 25 degrees when using them. Here's the Key Lime Cheesecake Squares recipe. It's...

    Mini Cheesecake Disaster

Use them as a crust instead of a graham cracker crust for a key lime pie, cheesecake bars/squares, or, if you have enough vanilla wafers left, use them as a crust for a regular size cheesecake. I have a great recipe for a key lime pie, plus one for key lime cheesecake squares (I use regular...

Whats your favorite soup to make?

Here are two of my favorites: CARROT SOUP WITH SPINACH CHIFFONADE *Note: I increased the amounts of ground ginger and fresh ginger, plus I added some ground cardamom and curry powder. 4 cups (or more) canned low-salt chicken broth (I used 4 cups) 1 pound carrots, peeled, sliced 1 8-ounce...

    QUESTION about TRUFFLES please read

You're absolutely right about the Ghirardelli chips and bar chocolate - I just checked the labels. I should have said "SOME" chips have an added ingredient which help them maintain their shape and slow down the melting...

    QUESTION about TRUFFLES please read

This can happen with top quality chocolate also. I've had this happen with Scharffen Berger and other high-level brands.

    QUESTION about TRUFFLES please read

Why not? I find it a much better way to melt chocolate, rather than by pouring hot cream over it. Sometimes the hot cream doesn't melt the chocolate thoroughly and leaves small lumps, but with a double boiler, you are assured of completely melted chocolate. Either way, it's entirely up to the...

    QUESTION about TRUFFLES please read

Although chocolate chips melt much slower than bar chocolate, they shouldn't be a "big blob" as you described, especially if you use a wire whisk to smooth them out. But in general, it's not a good idea to use chips for melting - they have an added ingredient which help them maintain their...

    QUESTION about TRUFFLES please read

Make sure the water in the bottom of the double boiler is barely simmering, and you mix the chocolate frequently with a wire whisk until melted and smooth. What kind of chocolate are you using?

we need a serious talk...about chocolate

Audeo, Dark chocolate, which includes both bittersweet and semi-sweet, DOES have sugar added. Only unsweetened (sometimes called "bitter," but NOT "bittersweet") has no sugar added.

    Chocolate Lovers Unite

A fantastic cake! I did not make the white frosting, so I can't review it, but I'm sure it holds up to the quality of the cake. Instead, I increased the amounts for the delicious chocolate filling (ganache), and used it to both fill and frost the cake. In addition, I kept this as a two-layer...
