    Non-stick pan retaining odors

I recently bought a 1-quart saucepan from the new Circulon Espree line (hard anodized, non-stick). I've used it only a few times, and I find that it's retaining odors, especially if I warm tomato sauce. I looked on Circulon's website, and they say food can sometimes build-up in the ridges of the...

    Need pressure cooker help!

She also says to avoid electric pressure cookers: Electric pressure cookers seem to be plagued with problems. Yes, they attract novice pressure cooker users who are unsure of pressure cookery, and that helps convince newcomers to "graduate" to the standard stovetop model. If you are...

    Need pressure cooker help!

I just found a site called Miss Vickie's (this system won't allow me to post a URL), that has pretty much anything you'd need to know about pressure cookers, including buying tips. She says to stay away from the Chef's Design models, as they don't come up to the standard 15psi and cooking takes...

    Pressure Cooker Question

Cook's ran a test of pressure cookers three years ago. I've attached the article as a PDF file. They declined to include electric models, as they felt they wouldn't allow for enough control. They liked the Fagor Duo best, although other Fagor models are lower priced. The Fagor Elite is widely...

    Food Processor?

It's a 20-cup model? I didn't realize. That's why it was so big and heavy! Nah, it's gone, now. I really can't ask for it back. I don't need it for myself (my stepmother used to entertain a lot), and I would only be asking for it so I could sell it.

    Food Processor?

Yeah, that's why I'm sorry that I gave it away!

    Food Processor?

Yeah, precisely! Same problem. I had the DLC-XP; inherited it from my stepmother. It sits on a shelf in a closet in Florida now, at the home of friends. I don't think it gets used very often.

    Food Processor?

I used to have the 14 cup model. Big, heavy thing - I got tired of dragging it from apt. to apt. I finally gave it away during one move. This was about eight years ago; today, I could get a few hundred for it on eBay! I had trouble with the cover on that unit as well. Always had to wrestle with it.

    Food Processor?

Corey, Re: cleaning the Cuisinart - Have you found this to be a problem with the newer body style as well?

    Food Processor?

No, I don't think that everyone who prefers KitchenAid products is a fanatic! It's just a creepy atmosphere over there on their boards. I'm sorry, you're right - it is a reversible disc (about which I have reservations), and they do make it available. There's just no image, and I looked...

    Food Processor?

Have you found this to be true with the newer, rounder Cuisinart body style as well?

    Food Processor?

That was part of the problem my friend had with the KitchenAid! I think, after a while, they all develop this.

    Food Processor?

Right, I meant to mention that - the ten-year warranty is on the motor. Parts are three years. I once broke the motor on my cousin's old Cuisinart, years ago (when they were supposedly making them better, before they were purchased by Conair), just by grating cheese. We could have used the ten...

    Food Processor?

I've also been trying to decide between Cuisinart and KitchenAid food processors, and there is one issue that no one in any of the cooking forums ever mentions. KitchenAid provides only a one-year warranty on their appliances. Cuisinart generally gives ten (a couple of the older models that are...

    What does "Anodized" mean?

I realize that; I meant that I don't see them heat the pan before they put in the oil. But you're right - it may just be to save time.

    What does "Anodized" mean?

I've heard this before. The Frugal Gourmet used to say it all the time. But, you know - I never see the chefs on TV do it. They're always putting the oil into the pan first, then heating both together.

    What does "Anodized" mean?

Why don't you like the Cuisniart? Uneven heating?

    What does "Anodized" mean?

One other thing - glass vs. metal lids. Any preference?

    What does "Anodized" mean?

Hi, This is my first post, and I have two questions pertaining to this thread - 1. It's been said that anodizing makes the aluminum more scratch-resistant than stainless steel; however, whenever I've looked at anodized pots in a discount store, where they've been banged around a bit, as they...
