    Unicorn Magnum Pepper Mill

I'm more interested in how it performs instead of what it has to say. I love fresh ground pepper and always prefer it to pre-ground. Based on what I've read, this mill will produce a lot of freshly ground pepper without a lot of effort. It also sounds like the grind is easy to set and is consistent.

    Can I Freeze Hummus?

Hummus does freeze very nicely. As others have mentioned, simply give it a stir when it thaws. As far as Tahini goes, it does not need refrigeration. Being of Lebanese descent, Tahini is a staple in my home and I have never had it go bad and I've kept it in the pantry for months at a time. The...

    Unicorn Magnum Pepper Mill

Has anyone used the Unicorn Magnum Plus pepper mill? It seems to be very highly recommended but is expensive for a mill. The Magnum Plus is a 9" grinder and sells for $45. I was just wondering if anyone thought that it was worth it.

    Need help with cream sauce!

You might try thickening with flour. Right before you start adding the cream, take about a tablespoon or two of flour and add to the shallots. Stir a couple of minutes and start whisking in the cream a little at a time. For more information on this, look up bechamel sauce on the web and you'll...

    Bean ideas?

Another way to consume beans is as a dip. You have traditional hummus made with garbanzo beans, lemon juice and tahini sauce. You can also substitute other forms of beans such as black beans for the hummus. You can give it a southwest flair by incorporating cilantro and jalapenos! Goes great...

    Bean ideas?

Falafel are also a good way to incorporate beans. Most recipes call for the processing of fava beans and garbanzo beans with onion, parsley and a variety of spices such as cumin, etc. This mixture is formed into patties or balls and fried until crisp on the outside. They are then served with...

Coconut Oil, Coconut Extract, what's the difference

Sometimes flavorings are referred to as oils. I know that in some anise flavored pastries, anise oil is called for which provides a more concentrated form of the anise flavor. These so called "oils" and flavorings are use in candy making. One popular company is LorAnn Oils (lorannoils.com - see...

GE Cafe Range Thanks for the input. I also have a GE range and dishwasher and have not had a problem in 15 years. I use my range quite a bit for stove top cooking and the oven for baking and roasting and don't have any problems with it. My mother has all gas and she claims that you can't beat...

General Electric Co. to Sell its Major Appliances Division.

Speculation About Bidders The financial websites were thinking that the main bidders would be foreign companies wanting access to the U.S. market. G.E. has not done well as far as selling appliances abroad and is basically a U.S. brand with significant market share in this market. Two names...

    Dual Fuel Ranges

I have been cooking on all electric for a number of years now. At my mother's house, I use an all gas range when I cook there. I am definitely interested in a gas cook-top but I'm having a hard time deciding whether to go electric or gas in the oven, i.e. all gas range vs. dual fuel range. Can...
