LOL ... unusual cookbook ... only in Nevada !

While not as interesting as your find you might take a look at Golden West Publishing Golden West Publishers quite a few interesting cookbooks available from them. I usually pick up one or two when we are in Vegas, "The Chili Lovers Cookbook" is a personal favorite of mine.

Get old cookbooks ... often at great price.

Yes it's a great collection, but my brother says a cookbook collection isn't complete without "The White Trash Cookbook". He's been looking for years and I can't wait for him to find it, I'm so tired of the "I had it in my hands" story.

    Fav Healthy Meals?

You can make an "Egg McMuffin" that's under 250 calories, whole wheat english muffin, fried egg, non fat cheese, and Canadian bacon. Believe it or not, the egg has the most fat, and that's because of the yolk. Most Canadian bacon is very low fat, one slice is less than 3/4 of a gram and if you...

    SPECIAL DIETS help needed

You might also do research on the "DASH" diet, it's more of a cardiac diet, but it is also a low sodium diet, 1500mg a day. I stumbled across it when I was researching ways to remove sodium from my diet.

    Dented Refrigerator

Dry Ice, because it is so much colder than water ice, contracts the metal and pops the dent out way, it depends on the dent as to whether it can be successful or not. Paint-less dent removal is done by getting behind the dent and using small picks and tools to slowly work the dent out of the...

    Dented Refrigerator

It would be difficult to completely take it out without replacement of the door. I would be concerned about damaging the door gasket and or alignment of the door. If, and that's a really big if, you can remove the gasket in that area(most are glued now and very easy to tear ) you could try a...

Does anyone like Vintage equipment & appliances?

When I was cleaning out a work shed of our new home, I found a Lady Hibbard Dual Waffle Maker. These were manufactured during the depression for well to do ladies. They weren't made for the everyday housewife and so, from what I understand they are quite rare, because they weren't affordable to...

Newb needs help with chicken breasts

As you progress in your cooking skills you'll find out that cooking to a time is rarely accurate. For $20 you can purchase a remote probe type thermometer that all you have to do is program in the temperature you want stick it in the oven and wait for the ding when the meat hits the correct...

Newb needs help with chicken breasts

It was probably a combination of both too much salt and too much time in the brine. Brining is basically a chemical reaction, you use a higher concentration of salt (Brine) to transfer to a lower concentration of salt (chicken breast, in this case), in order to impart flavor or remove certain...

Need a stand mixer? Avoid tilt-head KitchenAids

If that is truly the case, then I am truly sorry for casting dishonor your way. May I ask why you would publish your letter to the manufacturer in a public forum, clearly with the intent to sway others from purchasing a KitchenAid product ? Why would you also tell the manufacturer that because...

Newb needs help with chicken breasts

Here's a few more menu ideas for you: While brining is an excellent way to add flavor, you have to be careful with sodium content and label watching. Quite a bit of the chicken and pork available comes brined. Especially boneless chicken breasts and pork loin chops. Read the labeling, if you...

Newb needs help with chicken breasts

First of all welcome and second of all, with your special requirements you will have to to be very careful in the way you proceed. Flavor can be added, but many of the recommendations have failed to allow for something that is very detrimental to your condition, the "S" word or SODIUM. In...

Need a stand mixer? Avoid tilt-head KitchenAids

And I would have believed it until I read the last paragraph. The other problem I have with it is, it's unknown what type of bread she was making and even my Pro-6 has problems with a high flour low moisture dough and it's 525 watts versus 325 watts. I've had my Pro-6 Locked up tighter than a...

Need a stand mixer? Avoid tilt-head KitchenAids

I fail to see your point other than the fact that you are trying to blackmail and extort a new mixer for the second time from KitchenAid. The terms of the warranty were specifically stated in the documents you received with the first mixer. I understand your frustration in the situation, but...

Can anyone recommend any good books on healthy eating?

If you are looking for a guide on nutrition and diet, you probably aren't looking for a cookbook. One of the most informative books that I have found is "Total Nutrition:The Only Guide You'll Ever Need" from The Mount Sinai School Of Medicine. It covers in depth studies and analysis of...

    Anyone made flavored salts?

Stephen Rachein's book "Sauces, Rubs, and Marinades" has a recipe for smoked salt. Basically you spread kosher salt on a cookie sheet and smoke it for a couple of hours. I use hickory and it does impart a flavor to the salt.

    Cast Iron Seasoning Question

I would defiantly NOT use Navel Jelly, to me that stuff is too nasty to put on something I was going to eat out of. I use "0000" steel wool to clean anything that has rust on it. A quick rub removes any rust and there is little if any residue. It won't scratch any hard surface and it's very...

Newbie here; looking for some cookware assistance

One of the best investments you will ever make for your kitchen, is Alton Brown's book "Gear for Your Kitchen". For me it's the Bible I go to when I want to purchase kitchen stuff. He covers everything in such detail, he must have 10 pages just on metals used in cookware. At $17.95, it's one of...

    All Clad alternatives

All-Clad is very nice, not worth the price but very nice, There is a misconception that all of their products are USA made and this is quite wrong. They do sell some products that are made in China, I know I own one, says so right on the box. It's still a great pot. The Emirl line is mostly...

    William-Sonoma Acorn Cakelet Pan

Ah, I see it's a WS exclusive. Here's what I've noticed about WS exclusives, WS signs an exclusive agreement with the manufacturer usually for a specific length of time, a year is usually the time length you hear, after that the maker can open the product up to other retailers. WS retails an...
