Hi there,
as you'll see I'm from germany. My family lived in NY for
a couple of years when I was a kid(about 20 years ago).
I'm 30 years old now. Sometimes in I'm still in the US for business.
Meanwhile many things happened in our lifes but we are all
looking back to those years to be the best...
@John
OK! There are others who have a similar
situation... I thought it was just me who's crazy...
@Leaf Storm
We don't drink wine or beer on our lunch break all the time.
In most companies alcohol ist absolutely forbidden.
I'm glad I'm not working in one of those.
Sometimes I enjoy...
Hi there,
just wondering how it is in other countries!
Drinking behaviours aren't that different between europe
and US after all I know! But still interesting!
Do you have a wine-cellar? Some wine you ALLWAYS
have in stock?
It's common in most of europe that you have some wine or
beer for...
@Mods: If this doesn't fit in here and should be
posted under "ethnical food" tell me. I'm new here,
but this one is not particullarily german it's
just european.
For about 20 servings:
5 pounds of pumpkin (muscat), cut into cubes
2 Cups vegetable soup (self-made of course ;), rather...
I just HAVE to post in this thread!
I'm really wondering if anyone here knows one of them.
But a couple of years ago I actually found a bar in NYC
that had "Warsteiner". I was really happy after six weeks
away from home without a beer... But it did taste a little
different than I'm used...
I don't know if this is KFC-style but I think they have
some apples in there.
Not a german recipe either, I actually thought it was
american:
1 head cabbage finely chopped
1 minced onion
1-2 medium sized apples cut finely
1 medium can pineapple-slices (sweetened), keep the juice
3 carrots...
That's not referred to as Schaschlik normally.
It's just a "Grillspiess" ("grill - stick").
You can put anything on that stick you want and have
a nice BBQ.
Schaschlik would be:
- meat
- Onion
- paprika
- bacon
The marinade you described is also used very often
for BBQs (on "Grillspiesse"...
Hi Catseye,
your recipe is actually called Schaschlik (with 'sch').
It's not really german but it's popular in
fast-food places.
I don't have a recipe at hand, all I found on german
cooking-forums was made with so called
schaschlik-sauce you can buy everywhere over here.
The meat on a stick...
