    Help me with dinner please

so what did you end up doing? I would have suggested a skillet dish - brown the ground beef (with some onion if you have it), drain and add the mushroom soup and maybe the onion soup packet too, with some water. Simmer till the gravy is thick. Cook some noodles and drain, then stir into the...

What is for dinner, Thursday, 1-08-09?

ok, what I ended up doing was thawing the chicken breasts and cutting them up into chunks and sauteing them, then simmered in an Indian Jalfrezi cooking sauce (sweet pepper and coconut). Served over rice. Yummy! (I bought the sauce in a jar at World Market, and will buy more of them.... it was...

    Ambien Is Evil!

Ambien didn't help my husband stay asleep very well. However - he has a friend who has wrecked two vehicles while "sleep-driving" in the middle of the night. He was booked for d-u-i both times but released after passing the breathalyzer (and getting ticketed for lesser charges).

What is for dinner, Thursday, 1-08-09?

tonight could go two ways - either jambalaya with sausage OR chicken breasts sauteed and cooked with coconut-lime thai cooking sauce and served over rice. The thai meal will take longer and I really need to thaw out the chicken to do it. Considering its noon already.... it'll probably be...

    I Can't Believe I Lived Without.....

believe it or not... I have never seen a rat. We live in a stick-built single family dwelling on a 120' x 120' lot in a small town (about 12,000 population) and have an alley in back, with dumpsters and 2x weekly trash pickup. We are on the city water and sewer system. We've lived here for 30...

    I Can't Believe I Lived Without.....

we have had a disposal in the past. When the last one fritzed out, we didn't replace it and I don't miss it at all. Same with the dishwasher - I clean up as I go, and with just the two of us, it only takes a few minutes to hand wash the dishes. I guess for me, its a toss-up of having plenty...

    Fastest Meal I've Ever Made

I had some boneless pork chops thawed out - 4 in the package and they were about 3/4" thick. I decided to pan sear them. I heated some EVOO in a skillet on med-high and at the same time boiled water in a saucepan to make some couscous (Far East brand, in a box near the rice in the supermarket)...

    How old is everyone?

I remember being 18 and being a new cook (and wife!). I thawed out a package of meat to fix a meal for my DH and invited over my MIL. I thought the label said "CUBE steak" which I was going to chicken-fry. It was actually "CLUB steak" (package of 2 steaks) and I was terrified of what to with...

    Best meatloaf

I grew up hating my mom's meatloaf. She used ground beef, minced onions, an egg, cracker meal, and a sauce on top of ketchup/brown sugar. When I ate meatloaf away from home (probably a restaurant somewhere) and it had real tomato sauce on top and pieces of bell pepper in it, wow! I fell in...

    Chili Verde?

just curious - I've noticed in some restaurants in New Mexico that the salsa verde is served warm and the regular red salsa is cold. Can anyone explain why? (I don't know, I'm asking y'all....)
