    Cooking for Dummies?

I started trying to perfect the things I liked. Then I've branched out and broadend my culinary horizons. I think the Cooks Illustrated magazines/cookbooks are the best resources. They give you the recipe and then tell you why it works and all the things they tried before coming up with perfect.

Can anyone recommend any good books on healthy eating?

I've really enjoyed The Abs Diet by David Zinczeno. It's the basic mesage they all give you. Eat smaller meals more often. Eat whole grains, fruit veggies, lean protein. Don't eat processed junk....exercise...

    Vegetarians at DC?

I'm mostly a vegetarian. I eat a tuna sandwich about once a month or less. I don't care if stuff has sock in it. I used to, but got too tired to care. :)

    Not your Average Lunchbox...

My kids love to dip...apples or pretzels in peanut butter or hummus. Veggies in ranch. You could always make up some couscous or orzo and just put a little olive oil, garlic and parmesan. It could be good hot or cold. I've always loved spaghetti noodles with tons of garlic and diced tomatoes.

What foods do you hate/won't eat?

I'm pretty particular... I'm a not a huge meat eater. I was a strict vegetarian for about 10 years. Now I'll eat tuna about once a month and I don't care if my soup is made with stock, other than that no meat. I don't care for eggplant, zucchini, squash really at all, mushrooms, olives and eggs.

    Does anyone like Fish Tacos?

I cook for at a private school and this is the way we make our fish tacos as well. We use the super yummy fish sticks from costco, a little mango salsa and shredded cabbage....all in a corn tortilla. The kids love them.

    Question about cooking masa

Yes, I am refering to masa harina. There is a fabulous restaurant here in Salt Lake City called the Red Iguana. They have this dish called potisinas, I think. Anyway, it seems to me to be an uncooked tortilla stuffed with maybe ranchero cheese, green onions and chilies. Then they deep fry...
