    An 'udderly' splendid dish

I love dutch oven potatoes just like most everyone but do get a little tired of the same thing over and over. Here is a great way to mix things up with a little whipping cream. I found this in the BSA Scouting magazine in the Jan/Feb issue of 2011. I had a group of Scouts begging for more...

    Deep Dish Peach Pizza

That looks really good Garry, thanks for sharing! Have you tried it without the tinfoil, would there be sticking issues? I avoid tinfoil in my DO like the plague but understand that it is required for some dishes.

    Dry White Wine Substitute?

GB pretty much summarized my response. I would add that I would pit this dish against almost any other cordon bleu dish. I bet 9 out of 10 would pick this one. A DO is not a crock pot type "slow cooker". Would you call cooking in a conventional oven slow cooking because those are the...

Another Newbie! (I cook DO style)

My name is Jeff and I stumbled across this forum in my search for a wine substitute in a Dutch Oven recipe I have been dieing to try out. Low and behold, I ended up with 4 pages (and still counting) of replies to the subject. WOW! I learned so much in just that one post and gained a great...

    Dry White Wine Substitute?

Thanks. I am precise with my DO cooking and hate to deviate. Its good to better understand how ingredients work. I was thinking that the wine was the ingredient that made the dish "pop", glad to see its not. For me, mediocrity in my DO cooking is unacceptable with all the time and money you put...

    Cheesy Chicken Italian-o!

I cooked this at a small neighborhood cooking contest last Sat. and everyone ranted and raved over it! I thought I would share for those of you who are looking to add something new that is sure to please. Cheesy Chicken Italian-o As a side note, I ended up with a lot of juices in the...

    Dry White Wine Substitute?

Thanks for all the advice and comments! I am confused why I would replace wine with chicken broth (especially when its a chicken based dish?) I think the cook who was teaching this recipe threw in the wine because he liked to drink so it was an excuse to swig away during the class!

    Mountainman Breakfast...Again.

This is one of my favorite breakfast DO dishs. I am excited to try this version out as it has 4 times the meat and is put together a little differently so as to layer it. Thanks for sharing!

    Advice on seasoning Dutch oven

With the initial seasoning do follow the instructions. A note on vegtable based oils in your DO. If you are using your DO every 6 months then it is not a problem to re-season with vegtable based oils. HOWEVER, if you get beyond that point then you might be in for a big suprise when you open...

    Dry White Wine Substitute?

I have been doing research  to find out what will be the best substitute for dry white wine in this amazing Dutch oven recipe. I am a Boy Scout leader and don't want to be bringing wine on scout outings (plus I don't drink). I want to try to replicate the wine as close as possible without...
