    Decent Food Processor under $100?

Well the first one on the list that was under $100 was the "Oster Inspire", which ran for about $70. This model was not recommended, and the description said (paraphrased): "This unit almost got a passing grade—until it brutalized the carrots, celery, and onions in the chopping test. If you...

    Decent Food Processor under $100?

So my Cuisinart finally broke the other day, and I've found that my blender just doesn't work well as a substitute. After checking cooksillustrated.com for reviews of food processors, I found that the only ones recommended were around $200! Are there any decent models less than $100?

    The Cooking Channel

Has anyone noticed you can't rate or review the recipes on their website? That bothers me...I hate investing the time and money into a recipe when I have no idea if it's even decent or not..

    Unflavored Gelatin: Sheets to Envelopes?

A recipe calls for 3 unflavored gelatin sheets or leaves, but all I have are gelatin envelopes with powder in them, at 1/4 oz. per envelope. How do I substitute the sheets for the powder?

Does brand matter with herbs and spices?

Speaking of, how DO you clean those things out? The only thing I've found that has sorta worked is rubbing the inside with a damp paper towel..

    General Tso's Chicken recipe?

It's my one true weakness: General Tso's. I eat pretty healthy except for when it comes to these cravings. Anybody have any tried and true recipes for this delicacy? I'd rather make it at home than get take-out...who knows how unhealthy that stuff is..

    Yucky, stinky, nasty smells

Definitely the most unpleasant in my experience. I've gotten into the habit of taking the raw chicken parts that I'm discarding and sealing them in a ziploc before throwing away. Works every time!

Just wondering ... what is everyone reading now?

In the middle of "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle", the story of a family of four who make it a goal to go a whole year only eating food they raised themselves or bought from local sources. Very interesting!

    The GM Diet

Was just wondering if anybody has heard of this? The link is here: General Motors: Weight Loss Diet Program, the so called "General Motors Weight Loss Program" that the company apparently designed for its employees some time ago. You can supposedly lose 10-15 Lbs. in 7 days (I'm sure you'll...

Does brand matter with herbs and spices?

I've gotten lots of recommendations for Penzye's Spices, so I was thinking of ordering some whole spices, like cumin and mustard seeds. I was wondering, however, if the cheap stuff in the grocery store is the same thing? I know some items like black pepper can go anywhere from a few cents...

    Aldi's Version of Nutella

I don't like the sound of this....the high price of Nutella is the only thing that keeps me from eating it in large quantities every day!

    Brown Garlic?

I bought a bulb of garlic the other day, and when I broke it apart to get a clove out, I noticed that some of the cloves were brownish in color. What causes this? Are they still edible?

    Pre cook Peppers?

I've always found that if you coat the peppers in oil before grilling them, they'll cook much faster...probably as fast as it takes the lamb to cook.
