What is your weather like right now?

Hot, hot, hot - for us anyway. I saw the deck thermometer at 80 degrees this afternoon. We have many cottonwood trees around us that are dropping cotton. It looks like it is snowing outside. Plays havoc with allergies! But!!!! I'm not complaining. It will be winter again soon. sigh.

    Breville's Personal Pie

Thank you, Munk, for the links. I think a roll of sugar cookie dough (and oatmeal? possibly chocolate chip?), sliced and flattened will make tasty crusts for sweets!

    Breville's Personal Pie

Chiming in here - I ordered the 4 pie Breville last fall from WS and we LOVE it! Munk, I'm learning lots from your posts! As to the size...one pie is no bigger than the frozen Banquet, Swansons, etc...and smaller I think than Marie Callendar's. The small booklet that comes with the unit...

Caterers and other party experts -- preparing party food in advance

I made mashed potatoes similar to these the day before Thanksgiving, kept them in the fridge overnight, then put them in a well-buttered crockpot Thanksgiving morning. I put pats of butter on top, covered and turned the setting to Low. The potatoes were creamy and moist with the added benefit...

    Just my luck...

Mrs. C, I have no words of wisdom for you...but empathy. A few years ago on Thanksgiving morning my parents' water lines froze. (They lived in a mountainside cabin at 9,000+ feet.) We had to load everything up and caravan the fixin's down to my house in town. That was an interesting...

That way, when she gets up Thursday morning early, all she has to do is get the turkey from the fridge into...
