Language conversion USA to OZ - Chili Sauce

I've been here forty years and it seems I still have a language problem. For a 50-odd years old USA recipe I need what Americans call chili sauce. It is not a hot sauce. Perhaps a piquant sauce defines it better. It is tomato based sauce I think or a straight catsup or tomatoe sauce dressed...

I have made a bakeless fruit before but not for quite some time. I put the mixture in two difference dishes and put into the refrigerator for about 18 hours. Now I can't budge them out of the containers. I've tried running a knife around the sides with no luck. Anyone have an ides for me...

Oven cooking smoked marinated pork spare ribs

I have always up to now cooked raw spare ribs in the oven with barbeque sauce I concocted. I now have on hand some smoked marinated spare ribs that now won't be cooked on the barbeque and am not sure what to do with them. I have in mind putting them in a pan with a rack and a small amount of...

    Puree

Can I effectively puree, pea soup for instance, using a hand mixer rather than a hand puree sieve? I don't have a blender or other such appliance.
