    I used 600 ml ( 2 1/2 cup) of water and 400 g (1 1/2 cup) of sugar + around 4 teaspoons of ground spices (ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, cloves and nutmeg) and 1 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
