    Worst Kitchen Gadgets

    The Magic Bullet! I thought it looked amazing on TV... taking all the work out of grating, chopping, mincing, etc.... but it turns out it only really purees, and doesn't puree very well for that matter. It was such a disappointment!

    What is the point of a garlic press?

    I feel the same way about garlic presses as many mentioned above! It is more work to clean and use than it would be to just mince the garlic by hand. I also feel that it loses some of its flavor by contact with the press! Not a tool I'd use in my kitchen lol.

    Kitchen scale, do you get strange looks?

    I use a scale for measuring fruits and sugar when making jellies... but I definitely did get some strange looks buying it, perhaps because I'm so young lol! Who knows what they thought I'd be doing with that scale... but I guess now I know lol! :]

    sounds like you could make some great crisps out of those fruits! I currently make a great Strawberry Mango Crisp, and I had no idea that the combination would taste so good. I'm sure you could use the same basic recipe for other types of fruit combinations. Also, mango makes a great glaze...

    Opened salsa - shelf life?

    Definitely refrigerate!! If it's refrigerated, I'd say about a week to a week and a half... it starts to smell strange after that, and get an odd consistency, more like a jelly. I wouldn't want to eat anything that doesn't look or smell as fresh as the first day it was opened, lol!

    The pot holders are a fantastic idea, but I would be afraid of slipping! How do you prevent the slips with potholders? Especially because they are so small and don't have any grips? Currently, I use "Ov-Gloves", special oven mitts with heat resistant non-slip areas on the fingertips and palm...
