Do you take the skin off bratwurst before cooking?

No. I don’t usually take the skin off any sausage. You can though, for things like soup or some kind of fry-up.

Did Ya'll know there are Self Driving Robot Trucks on the Road in the USA?

I bought a lightly driven 2023 Audi Q5 and its warning features scare the shit out of me every day. I mean they are great but they are also loud and fussy. And a 300 page owners manual. Still, I love the car and it’s advanced features. But I’m not a fan of driverless vehicles.

    Club soda

No, it’s a response to the OP. Club soda is supposed to have “stuff” in it. I hear you about the bubbles. From the thing I posted, above, it suggests that carbonating water makes it more acidic, thus the reflux. Spindrift and Polar fuzzies don’t give me acid reflux, although almost...

Life Changes and how to adjust cooking habits...

We use our freezers pretty well. Now. Our garage fridge/freezer spit the bit a year or two right before we had to host 20 family members for 3 days of Christmas meals. Which I was supposed to make……… Panic but great purchase of new fridge. Christmas was great but the best part was...

Boston, MA - any local intel?

Mappararium. Yes! And if you stay in Copley Sq it’s a 6-8 block walk. Very close to the Prudential Center and the rest of Back Bay. Also, come to think of it, 8 blocks from Fenway Park where the Red Sox play. It’s very weird and cool. It’s part of the Christian Science Center, which...

I’m over it. I don’t care. But my wife is apoplectic about the arrival of the ants, which happened on Sunday.

    Sauce for cheese burger pizza.

Yes. It was popular maybe 10 years ago but you still see it around once in awhile. It’s not bad.

    Sauce for cheese burger pizza.

The ratio of ketchup to Mayo is off by a mile. In actuality, it’s mostly ketchup, with some yellow mustard and a dollop of Mayo. No sugar or vinegar. It’s topped with pickles and shredded lettuce. The Big Mac sauce could be drizzled on top. Also, what’s with the enormous volume ?

Question about hygiene in the kitchen - inappropriate hand washing

I’m also a huge stickler for food safety including washing hands. How’d the hip replacement go? I’ll probably have one in a few months…

Boston, MA - any local intel?

It's actually BAH-Stun. And often we dont pronounce R's (pahk yer cah) but, strangely, add them to words that end with A (Toyater car) Lets start with where to stay. I'd suggest the Park Plaza or the hotels in Copley Sq. -- Westin and Marriott. Easy to walk to lots of things plus on the...

Boston, MA - any local intel?

I've lived in Boston -- like within the city limits -- for 44 years. I'd be happy to offer advice. Andy M lives just north of the city and knows a lot. Let me think on this.

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

I have one of those blue speckled ones but haven’t used it in 30 years…. If the lid chipped I’d still use it. Also if you are roasting something you don’t need a lid. For roasting I use an All Clad stainless roasting pan like the one Sir Loin posted.
