    I Passed !!!!!

I took the ServSafe course in Baltimore a few weeks ago. I came out of the exam feeling really good, but I still checked the mailbox twice a day for my results. When I checked yesterday afternoon, there was my certificate. Proof that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

    Glad To Be Back

It's good to be back, even if only for awhile. As some of you may remember, I'm moving to VA the end of December. It's very hectic winding down at work ( I have 21 more work wakeups), and trying to sort out the house. It will take me awhile to read what everyone is up to. It feels good to...

    We Got Married

We had planned on getting married next July, but decided for a variety of reasons (immigration for me being one) to get married now. So when I was down there, we decided to do it. On July 3rd, at 11:45am, in the gazebo at the Inn, we were married. We had to work breakfast, so I left the Inn...

I'm making a dish ( a real homemade concoction) that I use cocnut milk in. I always end up with at least half a can leftover. So, my questions are, can it be frozen? What do you folks use it in? Thx!

    The First Fiddleheads!

Back at my Mom's in Quebec, we'd pick them outselves. Here, I have to rely on the grocery stores. I bought the first ones of the season on Sunday. Steamed with a bit of butter, S&P, they were fabulous. Does anyone else cook them?

    Black Bird Trivia

Every spring we get black birds in the yard. They fight with the cats and scare off all the little birds, so I have never been partial to them. They also crap all along the side of the pool. Or so I thought. I always wondered how the crap was aligned so perfectly. Come to find out.... My...

They were here when I got home from work today. I love it when they come to visit, because they are so easy to have around. I on't have to entertain them at all, but they do love their food! They are here for a few days again this spring. They are paddling around in the pool, and get out to...

    Homemade Cranberry Sauce?

A co-worker asked if I had a good recipe for cranberry salad, so I gave her mine. I found out today, she cooked it down, then proceeded to take off all the skins, strained it, added some gelatin, and made a jellied one!! I howled when I heard that!!!!

    Corn Pudding

Here's the Corn Pudding. If you have fresh corn, grilling it adds a nice smokey flavour. You can add things such as cooked bacon etc, but I like it plain. It has a souffle like texture. Makes about 6 servings 3 T butter 2 cups corn kernals (thawed and drained if using frozen) Pinch each...

    My Snoring Cat

My two cats have always slept on their blankies in the hallway. The older one has decided my bed, and especially my beautifull thin, pure wool blanket from Turkey is a great place to sleep. I have no problem with that, except She snores. She wheezes. She grunts. She groans. She stretches...
