    Return of an oldie

Hello, I was last on DC in 2009. Thought I might reintroduce myself. I am Kenyan living in Switzerland. Love to cook love food. Before, I spent hours in the kitchen, a medical condition knocked me back a bit so I take longer to prepare food because I cannot stand for long. Luckily my two lovely...

    Raclette ideas

Funnily I was thinking of having Raclette tonight, but realized we had a bit too much to eat over the autumn holidays in England, so we will give it a miss. Yes we do have meat, but only sausages and dried cured meat, but we have different flavored cheese. My favourite is garlic cheese. To use...

"It's Time to Eat!"--How Do You Say it?

As kids we used to hear the mosque prayers wherever we were playing and start heading home for lunch. At dinner time our househelp would go outside and yell our names at the top of her voice and we knew what it was about. Here, I just say, "Lunch's ready" or "Dinner's ready"

    Washing rice?

My mum always told me to wash rice to get the dirt out of it, but I learned also that if you wash it, you get some unnecessary starch out of it and keeps you a little bit trimmer.

    What's for Dinner Tuesday June 23, 2009

Unless it's cheese, don't put it in your mouth lol! I actually hate it when that happens. I am sort of phobic about green stuff growing hair, I found a pea that had white hair and freaked out. Scares the heck out of me.

    Grief counseling

JoAnn L, I am sorry to hear about your grief. Dealing with something like that can be very difficult, you need support from friends and family, and do not be shy to ask them if you feel overwhelmed. Counseling can help as they help you see the situation in a totally different light that...

    Fishy alternative for Veal

I'd say monkfish based on the fact that it's meaty and does not flake, so it can hold the various flavours well. Goodluck

Anybody have a Magnetic Induction range?

We use an induction stove from De Dietrich and I find them amazing. It's hard to burn anything, and kids can't turn it on unless they use the right pots and pans. It's so easy to keep clean as it has no hidden places one has to look for to clean as it's flat.

    Cherry Trees

I find that one year our cherry tree produces lots of fruits and the following year, not that much. Last year we didn't have much to pick, but come this year, we are inviting friends to come over and pick some. I have noticed a few other cherry trees in the neighbourhood doing the same, so I...
