    Basic White Bread Rolls

I woke up early this morning so decided that I would get up and make some bread. Then I finally settled on bread rolls. Using bakers flour, yeast, salt, sugar, milk powder and water I made the dough, and after it had risen I formed it into rolls, placed them on a baking tray and waited until...

    Pizza on the grill

I haven't tried the pan so can not assist you there but I DO own 2 of the microwave chip makers exactly like in the advertisement you've linked to. My advice based on experience is to suggest that you save your money with these. They do make chips that are reasonable, but truly still a little...

    G'day from Queensland.

Now Teddy is one very smart Maltese, Addie. You just have to be smarter, I wish you well! It's a bit like that with Cooky - he wins some and I win some and we respect each other, in fact he's my best mate. He drinks his tepid weak tea out of a wide cup not a bowl. He thinks he's one of us, and...

    New Rolling Pins

Not wishing to change the subject, but still on rolling pins Hows this for a good idea? It ensures pastry, pasta, fondant etc is rolled to an beautifully even thickness. Such a simple idea. I've ordered one and it should arrive during this week. I have also a very useful long French pin, and a...

    Single-hole mixing spoon?

The hole would reduce the effort required to drag through a cake mix, and as someone previously said the hole creates turbulence adding to it's mixing qualities.:yum:

    Today's Funny

Addie: <"I know. I went through it. Times five. Try having four teens in the house at the same time. What was I thinking having my children so close together. "> Yep! mothers of teenagers soon find out why some animals actually EAT their young. Don't they?

What have you had for breakfast lately?

Sir Loin: Love a good old croque madame. Simplicity is frequently best in cooking isn't it?

    G'day from Queensland.

Thank you Addie and Josie for the welcome. Addie - Maltese are the most dumped type of dog according to a recent survey. I believe that owners who do not take the trouble to train their dogs early in life, are to blame if their dog's behaviour is not what they require. Maltese are extremely...

What have you had for breakfast lately?

A simple home made loaf (don't you love bread machines?) Eaten with butter and my lovely partner - Ol' Mamabear's home made lemon and lime marmalade. this with 2 soft boiled eggs. Note our very expensive matching egg -cups lol and a must for any English guy, a cuppa T, or two.

    My grandmothers' recipe files

Regretfully it disappeared when she died. I'd give an arm for her wholemeal bread recipe. I think your Gran would probably prefer you to use her recipes rather than lock them away. Why not photo-copy them just as they are, and create a working book from the copies. THEN lock the original away?

    Dinner Tuesday 9th of October

Kayelle, I once told my daughter when she was about 5 or 6 that she'd never grow up and be a big girl and have a hairy chest like her dad unless she ate up all her brussels sprouts. I hesitate to suggest the same to you of course, but strangely it worked with my daughter Carmen. That...

    Dinner Tuesday 9th of October

CWS: If you take a pocket knife with you when you go to pick your b'sprouts it's so much easier than trying to pick them. Don't know if you know this little trick - It's quite common in UK. When you've completely picked them all off of the stalk and there are none left, try cutting a half...

Hi Kyl, still finding my way around. 1. I can find the forum rules for example but when I log in it says I haven't signed them, yet I can't see where to do it. 2. Can't find (yet) where to upload recipes or pics of food I've cooked. So I'm still fishing around a bit. lol Nice to see...

    G'day from Queensland.

 No Dawgluver, it would have been nice. We were on a training dive way back in 1956. She does look a bit uncomfortable doesn't she? Cooky is an Arsenal Soccer Club supporter (like me) and he has a shirt and lead to prove it.

Just wondering ... what is everyone reading now?

"The Big Bang -A history of explosives" by G.Brown. A fascinating book that traces how explosives have been of great benefit to mankind as well as being used for warfare. From Greek fire to nuclear fusion.
