ISO advice on cookware on sale

I've got the tri-ply put out by Sam's, I've had it for years now and it's great. Cooks well and cleans up beautifully and it was very affordable. (My teenage kids bought it for me, after numerous hints.)

    Spanish rice and what?

I'd go with a Mexican/Spanish theme-refried beans, tamales, enchiladas, posole, fajitas, carne adovada, etc. A citrus roasted chicken would go over well too. Then offer flan for dessert.

    Preventing tears when chopping onions

My husband won't eat anything that has been close to an onion and the kids have picked that up from him. When I was single my large glasses helped considerably.

School ending soon... running out of lunch box ideas

My kids loved flour totillas spread with favorite fillings and rolled up and sliced to look like pinwheels. Favorites included PB & J, ham with cream cheese, bologna with Cheese Whiz (I thought that was disgusting but my son loved it).

    Too much jalapeno!

You have some good ideas here, but if none of them are feasible for you, try serving the stew with something sweet to help cut the heat-cornbread with honey comes to mind.

    Southwest Creamed Corn Casserole

If you try it with regular rice I think I would add some extra liquid to help compensate for the extra cooking time and avoid drying it out. I make this frequently for potlucks and such and it is always a big hit, it's always one of the first dishes gone. I hope anyone who tries it, enjoys...

Help with SS cookware buying and opinion on Wolfgang Puck Set?

I've had the Member's Mark set of tri-ply for about two years and I'm still very happy with it. It cooks evenly and cleans up beautifully, just a bit of Barkeepers when necessary. I love being able to use the pans and the lids in the oven.

    Members Mark Tri Ply Cookware?

I realize this is an old thread but I'll add my two cents in. I've had this set of cookware for 2 years and just love them. They are in daily use and still look like new, they heat evenly and I love the fact that the pan and the lid can go in the oven. The riveted handles have stayed tight...

    Hola!

The Whole Foods is in the far NE part of town and "Old Town" is in the southern part of the NW. It's grown amazingly the last few years, if you haven't been here in a while you wouldn't recognise the place.

    Hola!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been having a ball the last few hours just reading threads. There is such a wonderful group of people here! Corazon, I had noticed the fellow New Mexican, it thrilled me no end as I am usually the one and only. I live in the NE part of town.

    Hola!

Well that's about the extent of my Spanish. I found this site while checking again to see if an old site I used to go to had re-appeared. No luck there but I found this one, and it sure seems to be a friendly place. So, I think I lucked out after all.
