Kaneo, I don't think it's old fashioned at all! It's an appreciation for the finer things. :)

I have salt cellars, you can see them in the second photo, but I don't have miniature pepper shakers. They're on the wish list. I also would love to start collecting mustard pots.

Thank you. They, like a lot of things that end up on my table, were my grandmother's. I've looked for more, as I only have eight, and would love a set of twelve, but I haven't seen them anywhere. I should probably look on-line. You've just given me a wasteful idea. The end of November is our...

Thank you. We use ours frequently. What's the point of having it if you don't use it, is my thought. That, and it just makes the act of eating seem more special.

This was from a tea party I hosted not too long ago. And this I set today for my husband's birthday dinner tomorrow.

    Table Settings

We like hosting dinner parties in this house. I got into cooking because of my grandparents. They were always hosting dinner and cocktail parties. A large part of these parties was the table setting. My grandmother started teaching me about setting a table at a very young age. When I was...

    I'd be unhappy about that.

    What are you doing?

I have some of those, actually, for when we BBQ. This may well become a new rule for work lunches. :) I just went out and bought new flatware (there was a good sale going on at Bowring). This set, though, will be kept in the chest, and will not be for everyday use.

    What are you doing?

I'm wondering where all my forks have wandered off to. Really. There's only three dinner forks and five salad forks in the drawer. I think a certain husband has been taking them to work and not returning them. :/

How many lbs. of mussels per person?

Hello folks! So my bachelor uncle has me cook a multi-course dinner party every time I go visit. I'm cool with that, since I love cooking and setting tables. Now, his guests tend to be higher end professionals, and they are major foodies. These people dine at michelin star restaurants and...

I've been on vacation, so didn't do much cooking. Tonight my brother is coming over for his birthday, so it's beer braised short ribs, garlic potatoes and broccoli and apple slaw.

The smell of sauteing leeks. I think that scent is divine.

    What are you doing?

Oh, I can't wait to live in the boonies! I'm original from the boonies, and so is my husband, but until I'm done school, we're staying in the city. And THEN we're moving to a place with a few acres. The plan is to have chickens, goats, bees and a greenhouse.

    What are you doing?

It is definitely a perk. Quite a few of his co-workers live out in the county (a local colloquialism for living in the country outside of the city), so we get fresh eggs every week, and then blueberries and apples every season.

    What's for dinner? Wed. 7-29-15

Tonight is habenaro mango sausage, fried green tomatoes (from the garden. I love how they smell), corn on the cob and pickled veg.

    What are you doing?

A co-worker of my husband's has a family blueberry farm. We just got 10 lbs of blueberries for $20. I'm in the process of freezing blueberries right now.

    Sunday Sunday 7/26/15

    Earl Grey, hot

Naw. Can't cry over something you knowingly took a risk on. But really, I've been doing this for years. I don't iron either. I just throw what I need ironed in the dryer with a wet towel while I shower. By the time I'm done, what was wrinkled is now smoothed.
