How Many Cookbooks Do You Have?

Without doing the exaggerated head count, I think I have we over 100 cookbooks in various shelves all over the house. I haven't stopped to count the ones on my Kindle..but there are a lot. My Amazon wish list is full of cookbooks, and I often use inter library loan to preview books I might want...

    Salad Master Machine?

I inherited a saladmaster machine from my mother in-law, and I'm trying to find out if there's anything missing. The main thing I might be missing is a food guide. I can't see anything on the machine that tells me which era model I have, and they have two different guides on their website. There...

    ISO Matzoh Crackers for VBS

Fortunately the Matzo issue is resolved..no Matzo! Instead, we'll be making flat bread and two recipes from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day(basic boule w/beer and some whole wheat, and European Peasant) The other ladies want to bake some of the art bread in the church kitchen for the...

    ISO Matzoh Crackers for VBS

There's a reason for my vagueness. I'm not sure what the directors are after myself. The food theme is items one might have found in a market during the life of Jesus. I was told yesterday that their plan was for the kids to each get a sample of the flat bread..and a different person asked me...

    ISO Matzoh Crackers for VBS

I'm needing a Matzo cracker recipe for Vacation Bible School. Not sure what quantities we need to plan for, but I was asked to check for a recipe. Side note: We're also planning to make flat bread; can't we make the dough and shape the balls, and freeze them til we're ready to use?

    Artisan 5 min a day .....

That's what I did for Vacation Bible School, and everyone raved over the delicious bread. I got bread bags and ties from my local grocery store deli. Since I made so many loaves, I stored a lot in the freezer at the church.

    Artisan 5 min a day .....

If you're needing ten loaves, you just need three batches of dough.. If you don't have room in your fridge, just do bake one batch of loaves in the morning, and one in the evening. I can get two loaves on a round pizza stone at one time. Last summer, I baked fifty loaves using three recipes...

    Smaller Loaves

I saw that one and wondered about it. I'll definately try it! Another thought I had is to see if the shop vendor can have an assistant to cut larger loaves of bread. That way just one person has a knife and there's some sort of control over portions. One of the directors will be at my house...

    Smaller Loaves

^^How many do I need to bring? Good question! This VBS format is radically different from what any of us are used to, and I have no idea how much bread is needed on any given day..My plan is to make at least 20 loaves for Monday, and see what is needed after that. If the 'market vendor' runs out...

    Smaller Loaves

I'm making several different kinds of breads for our VBS next week[ the theme is 'Going to Rome', and the kids will be going to the market with their 'families'. They'll be 'purchasing' bread and other foods with their daily allotment of 'denari'. Because of logistics and not wanting to save...

Crock pot cooking vs roaster slow cooking

My 6 qt. crockpot died. I have a large roaster oven that I love, but it's too big for taking to church potlucks. I'm thinking of replacing the crockpot with a 6qt roaster..is there any reason why I shouldn't?

White Bread...ala Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois. This is the basic Master Recipe. I made two loaves Saturday and was happy with the results. My main problem of the moment is finding something around the house to use for a peel. I used the bottom of a...
