BBC Radio 4 Extra is running a series of the TED Radio Hour and I caught it for the first time this morning. The episode was called "How We Love" and was mainly about the "science" of love and attraction both between partners and within families. The last piece was about a "Girls for a Change/Camp Diva" activity recounted by Angela Paton.
Over here we only hear the worst in the media about the American prison system both fictionally and on news and current affairs output in the media but this gave some considerable cause for thought.
The group were going to organise a father-daughter dance but some of the girls didn't want to be involved because their fathers were in prison. In a discussion about what to do about it one girl came up with the idea that if the fathers couldn't come to the dance the dance should go to the fathers. The prison authorities got involved and really played ball so the event was a really great success and seems to have had good results.
