On Sept. 14, 1899, Henry H. Bliss stepped from a New York streetcar into the
realm of the eternal. Henry and Electric cab #43 occupied the same space
which was not good - Thus, Henry became the first auto fatality in the
world.

On Sept. 14, 1899, Henry H. Bliss stepped from a New York streetcar into the

which was not good - Thus, Henry became the first auto fatality in the USA.
Bridget Driscoll has the even more unfortunate status as the first person to
be killed by an automobile in the world. On August 17, 1896, she walked in
front of an automobile going 4 mph which was giving demonstration rides at
the Crystal Palace in London.
