An unusual request for help from my US friends here

I have a dear epal in Tempe, Arizona. Was chatting with her on messenger tonight. She said that her dog had died in her lap tonight/today. She was very distressed. The main problem is that she is physically incapable of burying the dog herself. She has spent much of the past 3 months in hospital...

    Quick question for Admin

Thanks for your quick reply Andy. I feel like a total goose now  , should have thought of that. I guess after a year of puter 'stuff', I'm still a newbie.

Am I the only one - Site Problems?

I know this thread is over a week old, but I'm still noticing problems too. Yesterday when I logged on, browsed a few forums, then used the 'forum jump' at the bottom of the page, I discovered that I wasn't logged on to the page that just loaded. Tried the refresh button, but that didn't help...

    Quick question for Admin

Hi, was browsing a thread when I discovered a delicious recipe near the bottom of the page. Is it possible to isolate and print just 1 post, or do I need to print out the entire thread? Not sure if this has been asked before, thanks.

    I killed a snake.

Bravo texasgirl - that takes guts. I've only killed one in my life, but shook for an hour afterwards. I was about 18 and on my way out the door for nightshift at 3.45. No-one else was at home, and a tiger snake greeted me at the doormat. So I quickly slammed the door and exited via the...

Do your children or grandchildren like to cook?

This happened with me also urnmaniac. Mum was always shooing me out of the kitchen (even into my late teens) with a terse "Out - you're in the way". Not that the kitchen at home was small in any way, but I think Mum was just 'territorial' so to speak. I cant think of any other explaination...

Roasting a turkey in Weber BBQ

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. John - manifest destiny is definately an American term, but yes, one bonus point. I'm with you Thumper, I just love the 'unique' flavour of the Weber, so will more than likely be keeping it simple. QSis - I checked the brochure and the Smokey...

Roasting a turkey in Weber BBQ

I'm seriously considering getting a Weber BBQ for hubby this Christmas, but not sure of the sizes. They didn't have any in stock at our local BBQ store, but I did come home with a fancy 28 page brochure. Weber has the 47cm and 57cm varieties. So I'm just wondering if anyone here has roasted a...

What is your weather like right now?

Perfect here too mrsmac. It was 23 (76) today. Tomorrow we're expecting 27 (80), so it will be terrific for the Melbourne Cup, and the ladies in their summer dresses. As for me, just more weeding - lol. Sierra, I'm jealous. I loooove thunderstorms. Especially at night. Cant complain though...

So.. has the time change messed everyone up?

I'm with you mrsmac. I love it too. Through the summer months hubby works until about 6:30 - 7pm. It is so nice for him to be home before dusk. He sometimes asks me to take a walk with him around the garden, to literally just stop and smell the roses.

    Songs that bring back memories

They sure dont make em like that anymore, texasgirl. It's just not Christmas without Bing on the record player. It is somewhat a paradox for us aussies though, as we do love our hot Christmas days. Still, I think it is the spirit of the music and words. As much as I love Elvis, he has...

    Songs that bring back memories

Wow - so many great songs and memories here. GB - I did a quick search on my music program and came up with 2 possibilities... Ted Nugent - Great White Buffalo Rin Tin Tin - The White Buffalo Probably right out of left field, as I've never heard of the song, sorry. Mentioning grandparents...

    Foie Gras Ban?

I had to look it up too urmaniac, and agree completely. When hubby and I owned a butcher shop, we never stocked veal, just out of principle. We only sold yearling beef (18-24 months) On rare occasions we struck some beef that was unusually tough. On contacting the slaughter-house...
