Wow! That's insane. Aldo from NJSteelBaron is the most popular guy to get steel from. You can get big amounts of 1084 for much, much less than that. Handle materials vary, but you can get basic micarta/g10 from most knifemaking supplys, like TexasKnife and USAKnifemaker for not too expensive...

What do you dislike about your knives?

It isn't class work, I just really like knives and want to learn all about them. If I'm breaking any rules please let me know and lock/delete as needed.

What do you dislike about your knives?

Descriptions and photos are encouraged! :chef: I made the thread earlier about average price of knives, and noted interestingly that most of the voters are in the $10-40 category. Now, I'm used to thinking about knives in the $200+ range, where people nitpick about itty bitty details that most...

    Price Range for your knives?

Thanks for the response Addie - good things to think about. I would like to chime in that the final stage of sharpening for most knifemakers (if they even choose to do so, from a custom maker standpoint), is one of the least time consuming processes unless if they take it to an incredibly keen...

Thanks for all the replies and votes everyone! As expected I thought the most common would be in the $10-40 range. I'm kind of surprised there was only one vote for $0-10, but maybe there aren't too many knives in that category?

It can indeed get very expensive, but the basic tools and steel can be pretty affordable. Though, the search for new materials and equipment never end :)

    Price Range for your knives?

Hey everyone, I'm new here, just made my introduction post a little while ago. I'm curious as to how much you spend on your knives, on average? Let's say for a main chef's/gyuto/santoku/etc. It would be awesome if you could give some background of use too! Things like if you're a home or...

Hello everyone, glad to be here. While I am not very seasoned at cooking in general, I very much enjoy it. Always looking to improve at everything. I am currently a full-time student at University of Arizona, Materials Science and Engineering major. It sucks up all my time, but when I can...
