    Sunrise Smoothie (simple but unbelievable!)

Non dairy smoothies are not difficult - just use soy, almond or rice milk. Soy smoothies are splendid! And smoothies in general are so easy and fun. Seriously - just clean out the fridge and dump it in the blender! We're vegetarians, so I put a couple spoons of soy protein powder in ours too...

    Starbucks

Hi guys! I own an espresso bar, and your ideas are right on target! I'll also suggest that if you want to really zap the sugar entirely, you can get sugar free syrups in a million flavors. If you live near a grocery store retail (I think I cannot give out store names - right? bummer!) you...

    Better Burger

OK - don't kick me out of this thread for asking this horrible question, but has anyone had experience with all these great additions to ground beef, but using them with a meat substitute of some sort? You can buy a powdered mix at the store that makes a decent veggie burger, and I am wondering...

    Finally got the garden in!

Just an idea, but I'm doing all my herbs in long rectangular pots all along the walkway to the front door. This way I can grab what I want for cooking without going out to garden. And they look great! (and SMELL greater!)

    Finally got the garden in!

Yea!! Finally got mine in couple days ago too. I live in sort of central/southern Idaho at about 3000', and our weather is just psychotic to say the least. We had snow on the ground for almost five months. Funnest part of getting garden in the other day was I went and scrounged up three 6'...

    Kitchen Disasters

You guys are killing me! I'm totally laughing at these stories. If anyone needs a fun prank, my favorite (of many - it's how I work) was what I did to my mom when I was a teenager. She used to ask me to hop up and get her stuff when I was comfortably settled in, which sort of annoyed me...

    Diet Soda

Consider "fizzy water" mixed with something you like. We crank out a good share of "Italian sodas" this time of year at the espresso bar. I like to drink carbonated water mixed with a fruit smoothie base (is it OK to use brand names here? sorry if not...) like Jet Tea mix. It's real sugary...

ID - Boise area .. Good espresso

Hey coffee lovers! So who's got some favorite espresso stands out there? Here's mine while cruising the Boise area: The Dutch Brothers stands are suprisingly GOOD! (I'm a barista with my own place in Horseshoe Bend in the Horseshoe Nursery, and am a total espresso snob - but at least I admit...

Can 3 month expired sour cream be used?

I feel better about my fridge now - rotflol!! thanks to all of you for your sour cream adventures. I made that cake last week, we ate it (inhaled it) and none of us are worse for the wear. But then, we eat some pretty scary stuff around here - ha ha. And Saphellae - I made your quiches last...

    What's in your deviled eggs?

Pickle relish! I beat the daylights out of the yolk/mayo/mustard/ketchup and s&p mix with my Braun handmixer, then add pickle relish. Durkee's sauce is good, and I can see where the other stuff mentioned above would be fun too!

    Delicious quiche

lol! Thank you! I need to make a run into town I can tell. You guys are giving me all these great ideas and I need the ingreds.

What to do with sun-dried tomatoes

As for your sundried tomatoes - I wish I had too many! I made a sandwich the other day for us that used a sundried tomato pesto sauce (Trader Joe's stuff - yum) but you could use rehydrated s.d. tomatoes instead. I chopped finely the following: Zucchini squash, half a red onion, about 6...

    Diet Soda

I've also heard soda is nasty for your bones - something to the extent of depleting calcium - ? Like others, I suggest to friends to just say NO to the stuff! Moderation is the key!! (And then I suggest they order a lovely ristretto shot latte from my espresso bar. hee hee!)
