Grew up on my mom's family apple pie recipe and when I got old enough to 'take the torch' and learn to bake pies from her I jumped right in and never looked back. Now I regularly practice making all manner of pie dishes from fruit and cream pies to savory pies, cobblers, mini pies, boozy (spirited) pies and beyond.
