    Saute Pan: Quarts and Size

The 10"/3 qt Le Gourmet Chef also now has a helper handle. Probably as a result of the CI comments rating this pan #2 behind the AC version. They would have rated it #1 had it had the helper handle at the time of the test.

    Saute Pan: Quarts and Size

I just received a 10" Le Gourmet Chef Tri-Ply saute pan through a dealer on Amazon. It was $75 plus another $10 for shipping. Most of my other cookware is Tramontina (Kirkland Signature Tri-Ply). This pan is every bit as good and, like Tramontina, probably as good as All-Clad for a third of...

    Which book should I get?

I recently bought "Cooking" by James Peterson over the others mentioned. As I never went to culinary school and want to learn the proper way of doing stuff and expand my somewhat limited culinary knowledge, I'm far more interested in books that teach technique. This one is superb IMO. I liked...

Kirkland (Costco) Signature Tri-Ply stainless by Tramontina

I really think it's as good as All-Clad and I prefer the handles on the Kirkland over All-Clad's. At about the price of AC's similar size saute pan as the included one in the Kirkland set, you get the whole set of Kirkland! It's about 20% of the price of a similar AC set. Heckuva deal!!

Kirkland (Costco) Signature Tri-Ply stainless by Tramontina

I reported in a couple threads that I'd bought this stuff after jonesing for some All-Clad Tri-Ply stainless. However, after I compared the two brands, I couldn't see the benefit of the AC over the Tramontina. $230 bought a 13 piece set of the Brazilian made cookware. It's taken me about a...

    Using an Aerogarden

I saw one of these at the local cooking store but at $150 for the system, $20 for seed packs that have to be replaced 3-4 times a year and $20 each for two special grow bulbs that are supposed to be replaced twice a year, it seems a very pricey way to go.

    Calphalon One/All Clad

Tramontina three-ply clad ss is available at Wal*Mart, Sam's, and Costco right now under various private labels.

    Tramontina Tri-Ply Cookware

I wanted to resurrect this thread to comment that the current line of Costco 's Kirkland Signature Tri-Ply Stainless cookware is Brazilian made Tramontina. A 13 piece set is $229 and Tramontina USA confirms it's theirs and as good a product as they make. In other words, it's not a second tier...

    Ceramic cook tops

I have two - one house has a Whirlpool Gold and it's pretty good for an electric smooth top. The other house has a GE Pofile and I hate it. Output is anemic. I'd prefer gas but it's not even a possibility for one house (we'd have to run propane in). The other house only has a microwave vent...

What type of range do you use at home?

I'd love to have a quasi-commercial kitchen (but with residential features) but neither of our two homes has anything close nor is there reasonable potential to remodel to get closer. I have a GE Profile ceramic top at our house in town and we HATE it. Burner output is anemic compared to the...

All-Clad stainless - Is it worth it?

Oh, and buckytom, I bought a Try Me piece of Anolon Advanced cookware, their 8" non-stick skillet, at Macy's the other day, and it's wonderful stuff. I would consider it if I wanted new anodized cookware instead of stainless. A $50 pan for $20!

All-Clad stainless - Is it worth it?

I posted in another thread tonight that we recently purchased the Kirkland Signature Tri-Ply stainless clad cookware set (Tramontina) from our local Costco warehouse. I was all set to splurge and replace our Magnalite Pro with the All-Clad stainless line but, after reading some comments on the...

    Calphalon One/All Clad

Actually, the Kirkland Tri-Ply is made in Brazil by Tramontina. AC's high price is, in part, because most of it's American made (I think lids are made in China?) and they have a huge and expensive advertising budget. I feel I got a better product for 20% the cost of a similar AC set. Time...

    Calphalon One/All Clad

Costco now offers the rebranded Tramontina line in a Tri-Ply 13 piece set for $230 in the warehouses (though not online as of this writing). After making a close comparison with All-Clad stainless which is where I was headed, I was stunned to find that I thought the Kirkland Signature was...
