    Electric Kettles are definitely faster - no question there. I was just curious as to how much electricity one uses to heat up one full kettle's worth of water, compared to how much gas is used to heat up a stove-top kettle to boiling.

    I guess I had never been told the rule that milk/cream-based soups don't freeze well; a couple potatoe-y, creamy soups were casualties. Also, the soups that I tried to freeze that came back with very different (almost sludgey, not very appealing) textures were all soups with rice or barley...

    Hello, I'm a big fan of making soups, but I've had some hit and miss experiences with freezing them - soups that just defrost all chunky, a different texture, and just all in all not enjoyable for round 2. In general, what types of soups freeze well? Any recipe suggestions? Thanks!

    Strange Scenario - No oven, limited hardware...

    Oh, I know and love bigos! It's great. I have also mastered handmade pierogi. Polish cooking is wonderful! I guess I'm just looking for suggestions that don't involve sauteed chicken with pasta/rice. Mixing up my soups though with some nice root vegetable ones does sounds great, though...
