What is your weather like right now?

It's nice and sunny and in the 50s. Today we had a big melt of the 8" of snow we got last week. With the prediction of several days of 60 degree weather, the snow should be gone in no time!

    Dinner, Monday April 14, 2008

I just made Chicken Prosciutto Tortelloni and broccoli with a reduced-fat alfredo sauce and a little marinara mixed in. It was the first time I have made alfredo (that I can remember) and this reduced-fat version turned out great! It was packaged toretelloni and I just threw the broccoli in...

    Dog/Oprah

I just finished watching the 12:30 am replay of the show here. I was bawling like a baby! I was conflicted as to whether or not I should even watch, since I already knew how horrible puppy mills are and knew it would be hard to watch. The part that really got to me was seeing all the animals...

What did you eat today? Accountability thread

I want what you're having!! (minus the chowder) I'm a late riser, so all I have had so far is pancakes, but I made them "healthier" with reduced fat and added wheat bran and ground flax seed. I guess I'll have to start thinking about lunch in a couple of hours.....

What do you put on your salad?

The salad I have been eating for dinner a couple nights a week lately is: romaine hearts with gorgonzola, craisins and spiced pecans with a raspberry vinagrette dressing. It is SO delicious....hmmmm.....maybe I'll have one tonight.

    Photos of my Rustic Bread

I started making this bread about a week ago and now I am totally hooked too! I've been making a loaf about every other day. It also works great substituting whole wheat flour for part of the flour. Now I really wish I had another dutch oven so that I could make two loaves at a time!

    Dinner 2-28-08

I wasn't thrilled with my dinner tonight. I had some uncured turkey "hot dogs" from the food co-op. I made a pizza crust dough and wrapped them up with cheese and tomato sauce. Found out I HATE uncured turkey hot dogs. On the bright side, the crust tasted delicious! :)

Your Last New Meal Recipe (non-dessert)

Hmmmm.....does it actually have to be a recipe? Or could it be something new that we made up?

What appliance do you use the most?

My most used appliance is definitely my Cuisinart toaster oven. I don't use a separate toaster so we often use it just for toast. Also, since there are only two of us, I usually use it for heating leftovers, toasting sandwiches, making garlic bread, etc. I LOOOOVE my toaster oven and I'm sad...

Dinner plans for Tuesday, February 19th?

I ended up making veggie soup. DH likes V8, but I bought the low-sodium version and he decided that he hated it. SO.....I browned some onions and garlic, threw in the V8, a bag of mixed vegetables, some whole wheat elbows and seasonings - - - VOILA! ...a yummy veggie soup. I also made grilled...

What did you eat today? Accountability thread

So far today I have had - Breakfast: Banana, toast w/peanut butter and raspberry jam, Lunch: Cuban sandwich from the co-op and some Lite Cheddar Puffs, oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Not too bad, but I will need to get a bunch of veggies in at dinner! I'm thinking of making a veggie soup.

Do you bag your own groceries?

Here in MN there are no baggers and so there is no choice but to do it by myself. When I lived in NJ there were no baggers, but if you didn't bag yourself, then the cashier would bag it for you. I used to HATE HATE HATE it when there was a big line and the person at the front of the line was...

    Paper or Plastic?

I prefer to bring my own reusable tote bags. They are much sturdier than either paper OR plastic. Once in a while I will forget and get a few plastic bags in the house, and even then it is more bags than I would ever be able to use use up lining small garbage cans, etc.

    Bread machines- who has one?

I love my Panasonic bread machine and use it a couple times a week. I both use it to make dough for rolls or pizza crust, but also bake in it at least once a week. The only thing I don't like about mine is that it makes a square-shaped loaf. It IS super easy - basically dump in the...
