    Dinner tonight, July 28th, Monday

Thanks LEFSElover, that's especially helpful considering that last night's crock pot meal was much blander that I would have hoped. Better luck for me next time, I guess!

    Dinner tonight, July 28th, Monday

Tonight we're eating from the crock pot...chicken, mushrooms, garlic with angel hair pasta. Yummy! Hey, does anyone know any good crock pot recipes? I feel like so many of them that I've tried are very mediocre.

    Bad Brie?

It's funny. I'm a big fan of brie and I recently tried a brie de meaux which I felt was milder and less ammonia-tasting than other bries. Perhaps you just got a bad one as others have suggested.

    ISO "roughing it" camping tips.

When you do go camping again, there's nothing better to bring than some traditional GORP. Mix raisins, peanuts, granola, and, most importantly, m&ms. There's something so basically delicious about GORP when you're out camping or hiking. As a side note, the last time I went backpacking with my...

What do you like on your French fries.

I once ordered french fries in Belgium and had a delicious curry flavored ketchup with them. I wish I could find that here... Speaking of french fries, I'm a big fan, but what I REALLY like is sweet potato french fries (dipped in a small amount of ketchup). Yum!

Grilled cheese - just can't get it right

Also something to consider is that certain types of cheeses melt better than others. I love a good grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar, jarlsberg, or brie (depending on my mood), all of which melt really easily. Perhaps you could try a different type or brand of cheese.

    Favorite candy bar

I absolutely second LadyCook61's vote for reese's peanut butter cups! And if you can crumble pieces of these on top of a chocolate peanut butter hot fudge sundae, NOW I'm in heaven!

    Banana Boats

Oh boy, do banana boats bring me back! We totally used to make them on girl scout cookouts. We also used to add walnuts for a bit more crunch. Now that I'm craving these, I might just have to buy bananas and make them in the oven... I bet my husband will think I'm crazy (but happily eat his...

    Favorite Food Getaway?

Boston Mistral in Boston is an awesome restaurant, well worth a trip if you're in the New England area. It's a modern version of Provencal cuisine, excellently presented and quite delicious. It's fancy, but not pretentious. Do make reservations though.

Love to eat, Learning to Cook

I'm new. So let me introduce myself. I love food and eating. I appreciate a long 3 or 4 course meal prepared by professional chefs, but I also enjoy a good ole eggplant or chicken parmesan sub at the local pizza shop. I'm not a very good cook, but I'm really trying to get better. My husband...
