    Dinner Wednesday 26th November

Heh, heh, heh. I asked if DH would make me a marinara sauce for dipping appetizers tomorrow. Of course he made too much, though at my request for freezing. But I'm afraid that's not going to happen because he's decided to make meatballs and boil up some pasta for dinner tonight. Yippee! I...

Mailing baked goods in the mail

I generally ship 2-3 boxes of cookies a month to overseas military folk I know. :chef: It's a great excuse to keep the burnt and the broken for the household... The least expensive route in terms of shipping costs is the Flat Rate Priority boxes from the Post Office. They are boxes...

    My dog has issues

Growing up, we had a Siamese cat who would terrorize our mini-daschund. She'd let him give chase, zoom away fast around a corner and hide behind the corner. He'd come around the corner and POP! She'd nail him with claws right on the nose. He was always running around with bloody scratches on...

I think I should start that novel

My total sympathies, LP. My DH manages the construction companies for the insurance companies who do this kind of work. Some of the stories he tells are well... unbelievable! Take care! Go to the doctor for written proof you're suffering and make sure that's submitted to the insurance...

Do you get annoyed by people while cooking?

There's a line that defines the 'kitchen' floor space and the rest of that house in some of my places, it's defined by the change from linoleum to carpet, in other's just the beginning of cabinetry. Critters: They know NOT to cross that line while I'm working in the kitchen. Toes that cross...

    What's for dinner Nov. 24?

Dunno... DH wants breakfast for dinner, but that's not tripping my trigger. On the other hand, I can practice buttermilk biscuits again - see if I can't get them a little more fluffy... LL

No Meat - Once a Week

There are some really yummy sounding suggestions on this thread! I just made a big batch of red beans and rice with corn bread last week. My medical minded DH tells me it has all the necessary parts for complete proteins, whatever that means. I do add bacon fat to my cornbread and a little to...

How to store or preserve heavy cream?

Ice cream - just make ice cream with it when it starts to get old. I love my little table top maker. Very convenient, not very loud and takes care of this issue easily. When you notice your cream is old, just stick the double walled bowl in the freezer overnight beforehand. I like to give it...

    Glucosamine questions

I use a product called Osteo Bi-Flex. It's got Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM in it. It's not the cheapest Glucosamine product out there, but I like having all three in one pill. I just find it on sale and buy 3-4 bottles at a time. I'm missing quite a bit of meniscus in one of my knees...

    What's for Dinner, Saturday, Nov 15, 2008?

Pulled a couple chicken breasts out of the oven, noticed some leftover pesto in the fridge, mentioned these two facts to the better half and I guess I'm NOT making supper tonight! :D So... I have no clue what's for dinner. Got a craving for red beans, rice and cornbread - so that's for...
