    Butcher Block

I know now exactly what you mean! Great anaolgy! Unfortunately, I got the last one. Im anxious to try it out. All my experiences have been with "wal-mart" laminated wood boards. I notice that these give off powdered wood when you are chopping/slicing/dicing with a really sharp knife! I'm...

    Butcher Block

GB, I got it for $6!!!! at Ross. I could swear that the price was changed, or there was a mistake, because a small plastic board was more expensive! I'll take a pic with the price tag in a bit so I can post it. What is the difference between the grains, and why if I may ask? I would like to be...

    Dexter Russell

Thanx Michael. Yeah, I'll will be keeping up the blade with a sharpening steel. My parents had some really old sharpening steels there that were given to them by my cousing that used to work at a butcher shop. Luckily they are some F. Dick steel sharpeners. I did some research on them, and they...

    Dexter Russell

Well, after doing some research, and going into my local restaurant supply store, I decided to go for a Dexter Russell 8in Chef knife. I tried it out, and I love it. I just have to be careful because it is pretty sharp! Like I had mentioned before, I'm a dietetics student, so I could not afford...

    Kitchen Aid Santoku

I'm really tempted on buying a 7'' Sontaku by kitchen aid from target. I'm a starter, and I will be taking some food handling courses for my dietetics program. Since I am a full time student I cannot afford a really good blade. I like the feel on my hand, not extremely light, but not heavy as...

    Difference Between Cutting Boards?

Besides material, are there any other differences? I mean, does a maple cutting board make the knife slide smoother vs a tempered glass cutting board? Are tempered glass cutting boards any good? Will they dull the knifes? Sorry for so many questions. I'm about to get married, and am buying my...

    My first Stainless Steel set

Congrats on your ss! I to am new to SS. I have a 7-ply 10 piece set. Pricey, but well worth it. Most of my cooking had been on cheapy $10 pans. Man what a difference! Only thing is, of course normal staining, which will easily be taken care of by using Barkeepers Friend SS cleaner.

    Stainless Steel cookware

Guys, still kinda curious on the whole stain thing. I took some pictures so you all pros can give me some feedback. Is this normal after every cooking session? I mean, the pan is clean, it's just the stains. On here I cooked some ground turkey burgers. Look for yourself and give me some...

    Scratching stainless steel pans?

Sorry for the stupid questions guys, but I believe this is the best way to learn without ruining my pans. My stainless steel pans came with some stainless steel accesories, like a spatula, spoon, etc.... Can I use these on the pans, or will they scratch the inner part of the pan? Thanx again!
