HI - Maui ... where to eat?

We love Maui and visit often. Here are our favorites: 1. Tokyo Tei - in Kahului, we go there right from the rental car place. Hard to find but worth it. Best sushi on the island. 2. Sam Sato's - in the Wailuku area, in an industrial type park. Don't be put off. This is a classic ramen place...

Your favorite recipe to fix on the grill?

Carne asada, salmon on cedar planks, and the grandkids love those chicken drummettes sprinkled with a dry Cajun seasoning before grilling. Also love to make individual foil packets with big slices of beefsteak tomatoes, red onion and a drizzle of lime juice. Cannot wait for really good tomatoes!

How many of you own a bread machine?

Glad you posted this. Have a bread machine in the basement that I have not used in years - but we loved it when I did use it! Now retired, I was a school resource teacher, and I kept a bread machine on a cart in the resource room for teachers to borrow so the kids could experience the real...

What do I serve with filet mignon?

Such a problem, I know. Anyway, I bought some on sale and popped it in the freezer. Now it's thawing and I have a great (and simple) way to prepare the meat but what to serve with it that is neither bland or overpowering? I'm thinking a veggie thing and some type of potato or rice dish....or...

What to do with 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts?

If you have a sheet of puff pastry in the freezer you can ccok the chicken in a pan, and maybe prepare some chopped broccoli and garlic. Then preheat oven to 375ish and wrap the chicken, topped with the veggie mix (and a wee bit of cheese if you have it. ) in the puff pastry. Well you get the...

What's for dinner, Tuesday, Jan. 24th?

Very, very windy in our part of Los Angeles. I just put on a pot of pinto beans and seasoned the meat for carne asada tonight. I'll make a green salad and warm some tortillas. And, make lots of orange juice from all the oranges the wind is knocking to the ground.
