They also sell Sanelli Knives and they are $199.99 right now instead of $399.99. Great knives!

    Have you tried Edgemaker?

Mine is a manual one, not the electric one. I have been assured that both are excellent. Mine was $14.95 at Stokes. It fits against the counter and is rather like a comb... I know that Edgemaker designed an electric one, I haven't seen one, really not interested anyway, as mine is really...

    CHOPPING BLOCK-drinking problem?

I'm going to try that formula you have for cleaning your board. I find that Garlic is almost impossible to get rid of! (Not you Garlic!) I have washed and scabbed, and sanded, and it just sits there. I suppose I should have a little board for garlic, but I have a small area to work in and I hate...

    CHOPPING BLOCK-drinking problem?

I think the oil helps to keep things from soaking into the wood.

Whiskey, Sorry wrong button! The berries come from the States. I am sure that there will be good berries this year in our Province as the flowering was abundant and they are usually very sweet. I wish we could get Saskatoons! Now there is a really treat!

    To All Our Canadian Friends

Thank you for caring! Though we live on the Prairies, our towns are all linked with the Rail Way and our Railways are so badly run, profits before safety. Every year there is something. Recently near Calgary Alberta, a train was made to go over a bridge carrying Petroleum products, the bridge...

Is there any hope for this cast iron skillet? (Caution, not for the faint hearted)

I once found a cast iron 12" in the trash behind my apartment. The only thing that was wrong with it is that someone had over heated it on an old bent burner and it had been warped ever so slightly. I only found this out when I purchased a glass top stove. The poor old pet was so dirty and...

    ISO - The Best Knives

You know those Yellow handled Henckel knives are ugly as sin, but I have friends that use them and swear by them. They don't cost a fortune, because they don't have exotic wood handles, I guess. Sanelli has good knives in the Premana line. They are reasonable for their quality. The handles are...

    Neato!

I think the concept is great from a culture that lives in small quarters. Seems Japan is the new Sweden when it come to design! What gladdens me is the fact that you use them and find them really good. So often things that are SO convenient, are flimsy and "cheap", these look surprising...

Can I sharpen a knife with "teeth" ?

I really like my Edgemaker. I have tried it on an older brad knife and it brought it up sharper than when I bought it. Sliced really good bread in one swipe! It sets the edges at a 20° angle.

Lemons-store in fridge or on counter?

Here on the Canadian Prairies...... Lemons don't have trees. I remember when I was little we went to California just at Orange Blossom Time! The only tree that rivals it here in the Great White is the Russian Olive! Still I started keeping my Oranges and lemons on the counter. the Oranges are...

    CHOPPING BLOCK-drinking problem?

As you are going to be using the block day after day, why ot just build up the "patina" over time? you are going to cutting up stuff, and oiling things and washing it. I thought that mine was thirsty, but now it is quite nice. I know the Instructions say that we should give it an oiling... it is...
