    Can you identify this tool??

Sorry this topic seems to have died a little, I don't believe she was a member of a secret agency! I can't find a use for it still!

    Can you identify this tool??

Its not sharp like a knife, its 1-2mm narrower than the outer tines. What is the purpose of a key with curved edges besides would it not be an overly simple design? Or was that not a serious idea! I still think its designed to crush/blend/mash...........

    Can you identify this tool??

Just to clarify its definitely not antique we believe she had it in the last few years. Here's the response I got from an email I sent a few weeks ago: Thank you for your email. My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I've been emailing your pictures around the team to see if...

    Can you identify this tool??

The tool was found in a kitchen drawer although the picture is taken on a table hence the other stuff The middle part is sharper. Addie: I sent an email to Cooks Illustrated although not a picture so I doubt they're doing any research! Pacanis: I thought it was discovered although no...

    Can you identify this tool??

Thanks CarolPa for the picture its a good suggestion although its is almost certainly not a butter curler but she did like working with butter, she had a tiny saucepan just for melting small amounts and those wooden paddles for making butter balls. It could be English although I think I...

    Can you identify this tool??

I had never seen a taco server before but it does have the right shape, however you'd have to be the size of a Barbie doll to enjoy it i.e its far too small! My latest guess it that it could be dragged along something to cut/indent rather than just as a rocking/pounding tool... A ravioli...

I asked my gran and she can't remember what it is for although it seems to be Norwegian and she suggested crimping the edge of pies

    Can you identify this tool??

Well I thought I had the answer! I won't give up the search until I find something. I will ask my gran again when I next see her :) CarolPa - It definitely has no manufacturer or markings on it, I may even try taking to restaurants/cookware shops to ask!

    Can you identify this tool??

Unfortunately it doesn't have any markings on it and actually I don't believe it came with a drum. MadCook - do you have one too? Could you post a picture? Yes having researched making Surkal I can't find anything that actually looks like it but I think warming it to melt butter is a good...

    Can you identify this tool??

Drum roll please! Mystery solved, a member of the UK crafts forum recognises it as a tool for pressing cabbage!! I really would never have guessed that but it makes perfect sense as she is Norwegian and likes making Surkal (Norwegian Sauaerkraut or fermented cabbage) The presser tool...

    Can you identify this tool??

Thank you for the suggestions, I posted a picture on a Crafts forum and still no luck! I think if heated it might work well blending butter/sugar/flour for a cake, I think I will give this a go sometime!

    Can you identify this tool??

Here are some slightly better photos? My latest idea was something to do with crushing/breaking up ingredients... All the ideas so far are possible as my granma was very crafty, still can't identify a match!

    Can you identify this tool??

That cracked me up. I think I've at least found a good use for it! It definitely wasn't made by a blacksmith but I could try a toolmaker, thankyou for your suggestions I think I'll feel a little embarrassed if its not to do with cooking though...

    Can you identify this tool??

I don't think it is old enough to check with a museum, it's a fairly modern item, just a bit of a mystery! Yes it does look similar to some pottery tools but most of them are actual rollers to create patterns which it doesn't. If you notice the middle ridge is slightly thinner as if to cut...

    Can you identify this tool??

Ah Thank you! Meat tenderizer was mentioned but as you say nothing resembles it. I found it when I was helping to clear out my granma's flat and we and she can not work out what it is for. I took it to her today and she can't remember only mentioned is it something to do with pottery?! I...

What have you had for breakfast lately?

I was fairly healthy today and had a few tablespoons of natural yoghurt, a small pear and a tablespoon of luxury muesli (no added sugar though) with a coffee.
