I have not grown potatoes in many years so there may be new hybrids I am not aware of. With that said russet potatoes are a good all purpose potato. Imho I think they would work well for all but the potato salad which I like to use a waxier (sp) spud for.

It is so nice here today I fired up the smoker. I have a meatloaf in it for supper. As long as it was going I threw in some chicken wings and a small ham. :yum:

Yesterday I smoked a couple of ham hocks. So today I poached them in chicken broth and shredded the meat. I added potatoes, onion and garlic and cooked until tender and added green beans. I also smoked a pork tenderloin today so I have plenty of good leftovers for lunches this week.:yum:

I was going to smoke ribs and chicken today, but the bottom fell out my smoker........... So I went into town and picked a new one. I have it put together and am curing it now. I'll probably try the chicken on it later or go out tonight...........:yum:

Thanks for the recipe Msmofet! I came here poking around for inspiration today and found this thread. It made a great supper and I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Today I am making 5lbs of venison jerky and 10lbs of venison bratwurst. The brots I did 3 ways plain, cheese, and cheese spinach and jalapeño. I also have some dough rising for buns. The jerky is in the dehydrator. the meat for the brots is seasoned, waiting for my stepson to show up to help...
