Food Gifts, faves to give or receive

I got a basil infused olive oil once, that was great! And I think that's a great thing to give too. I plan on preparing some small olive oil bottles, infused with herbs, to give as gifts to hosts.

    Dinner Sat., July 29th

Great, Vicki! I just got married and had the greatest time planning it with my mother and mother in law. It's the 29th, so I'm trying to establish a tradition and we are having the lucky gnocchis (today: ricotta and spinach, with tomato sauce). Does anyone else eat gnocchis on the 29th of...

My first time with fresh leeks

It is. I got it from a brazilian book some months ago (the same book that had the rustic tomato pie, mmmm) and, since then, we've been making it a lot. Also, it's'a quick dinner to make. If anyone tries, please, let me know how it goes!

    Food for a hot day

I like cold soups (potato and leek is my favorite) and fun salads. I made once a salad with tomato, bread, garlic and basil, but lost the recipe... Anyone knows how to make something like that?

My first time with fresh leeks

This one is a winner: I cut two leeks lenghwise (just the white part) and then finely slice them. Then I get a medium skillet and soften them in butter (a little less than half of a stick). I add some vermouth (150ml, which is around 5 oz or 2/3 of a cup), let it evaporate and add broth (100ml...

    Restaurant Check Splitting

Ps: Obviously, if I invited someone, I'll grab the check. And if I go with my husband and a female friend (or my sister, his cousin etc.), we pay the check and don't let the single woman pay.

    Restaurant Check Splitting

I agree! It's terrible to end the evening over mathematics, with pens, calculators or whatever. For me, it ruins a nice time. I clicked on the first option (dividing equally) because maybe one day you'll spend more and on the other day you'll spend less, so in the end, that's ok. But I'm fair...

roasted carrots vs raw carrots; calorie difference

I don't know the difference and will pay attention to the answer. In the meantime, tell me something. You just roast the carrots or you boil them first? If you just roast them, for how long? Must be good!

How do you take your burger?

Medium-rare. Letuce, tomatoe, a little mayo, a mini little mustard and some ketchup. Then, it depends on the day: Grilled onions OR Sauteed mushrooms Anf fat french fries on the side. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

    Zucchini ideas?

Yes, it's sort of like that. But don't put too much cream cheese, or it will kill the eggplant or zucchini taste! Let me know if you tried and if you liked it. It's one of my favorite appetizers ever! :) If you want to see how it looks like, I found a picture I posted on my fotolog a long time...
