very relaxing and fun to shoot birds

My dad forgot the picture of him cooking steaks for some reason. First, you know you're someplace with bad weather when the grill is INSIDE the garage. Second, I don't think the flames should be that high? Third, note the well located extinguisher. Heh.

Hey, Dad, here's a couple of pictures I took when I wasn't busy shooting your birds out from under you: (I don't think it was any one of the ones you brought home, this one got pretty crunched)

catch it, kill it, eat it

Nice pictures, Dad! Sorry for being late checking the thread out--I've been swamped. First I had 4 days of canning, then after that a buddy dropped off 5 gallons of honey from his bees. Now I'm making mead.... The water was about 63 degrees that day. If the only canned tuna you've ever had...

need some help on maxin' out ribs on WSM

The smaller one. Nice fish, Dad! I think the halibut I caught last week was bigger, but my camera failed the "Lil Griff Test" and is broken so I can't prove it.

    A 4 day smoke!

Yep, that's what they do on the other corner of the country, too. Boy, though, you should see 'em run when you get out of the car! It might be a couple of years, but you might hear from me. I can hunt 2 of the 5 subspecies (in the US) here in Oregon. The Osceolas are only in Florida.... As...

    A 4 day smoke!

Waaaiiiit..... You live in Florida and have a place to hunt turkeys? Are they Osceolas? I might make a trip down there for an Osceola!

    A 4 day smoke!

This is my fourth smoked, wild turkey. The other three were all jakes, though. The jakes did not taste gamey at all. I really think wild turkey (and pheasant) flavor is heavily influenced by their diet. Two were shot where they had access to cracked corn. They tasted great...

    A 4 day smoke!

Well, sorta. But a bit of exageration seemed appropriate for my first cook photographed for this forum. It took me three days to get to this point: He was a 25 pound bird with a 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. My biggest turkey to date! Then, the next day, he looked like this: He...

    mini brisket

Mmm! Tasty, John. Hopefully, I'll be smoking a turkey Thursday or Friday. Hopefully. I just can't go to the store and buy it, you know?

(dangit, this thread dragged me out of lurker-dom) Cola, huh? Interesting. I'll have to drag a bag of snow goose out of the freezer (it's destined for the pepperoni right now) and give that a try. You must have more liberal limits (and a spring season) than I do?

    Sunday's Prime Rib

I've got one of those in freezer waiting for a "special occasion." Maybe tomorrow will be special.

    salmon fishing in Alaska

I always said gin was evil. Spilled beer, for example, just makes the keys stick. Gin is so caustic that it ate away something important. (Yes, I'm padding my post count keeping this thread alive--it's the only way I can participate as I'm out of charcoal)

Hear that Dad? Now we've got to brew some beer!

Jeez, Dad, I send you an email and you go and post it on a board and everything! Glad you all like the pictures. It was an excellent trip!
