Nut Snack

1.2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 egg yolks
splash vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder

Cream butter, sugar, add beaten yolks and vanilla. Beat well. Sift flour and baking powder into creamed butter mixture, fold in. Pat into a 9x9 pan.

2 egg whites
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup walnuts or pecans (or chocolate chips if allergic to nuts)

Beat whites to stiff peaks, fold in sugar, add nuts (or chips) and spread over first layer. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until just golden.

Hope you like them kadesma. They've been a favorite of mine since I was old enough to stand on a kitchen chair and bake with Mom.
