Washing Up
A few years ago I attended a conference in Puerto Rico. On the way home I stopped in the duty-free who and, on the advice of a colleague, bought some Bacardi 8-year-old "Ron Reserva Superior." Yow! I had never paid much attention to rum since I was in college, but straight up in a snifter, it was like cognac, but with this wonderful sweet quality!
When I ran low on the Bacardi, I stopped by my local liquor store, which is tiny but carries great stuff. I asked for a recommendation, and the owner directed me to Zaba, a 12-year-old "grand reserva" rum from Guatemala. OMG! This stuff is the Nectar of the Gods! Check it out here.
