A good savings tip - eliminate as much wasted food as possible. Purchase less, check fridge often for leftovers threatened to become unedible (follow food-safety guidelines), and re-use leftovers in new recipes.
 
I went to the market the day before yesterday, got groceries for two for ten days and restocked my flour and oil. Bill was only $28 and some-odd cents. Joys of living close to an Asian market. :)
